diminished from previous glory

There was obviously some renovation going on, since the pool area was covered with furniture. Once inside the room, it was cozy. It was right next to the laundry; this room should be the last room rented, not one of the first.
The bathroom was in serious need of renovation and Clorox. There were obvious deep algae and mildew stains around the tub.
The breakfast area was nice and the food was adequate for the price.
Just the basics

I was in town for one day for a funeral, so was not looking for amenities or nearby attractions - just a safe, clean place to sleep without spending a lot of money. This is an older hotel and the rooms' doors go directly outside - which as a single woman traveling alone, I didn't like for safety reasons (although I understand there's nothing you can do about that, it's just how it is - but had I known, I would have gone elsewhere). The front desk staff people were friendly and efficient. The parking area was well-lit, the room was clean and everything worked, except the alarm clock, but I can never figure those out anyway. The hotel is near the airport, but I couldn't hear any plane noise since the AC unit drowned out anything. The continental breakfast was also good.
Trust the other reviews, look elsewhere for a hotel

This is my first review of a hotel. I read the other reviews and figured that only complainers would write on here. Just as mentioned by others, I was had a reservation for 2 double beds in a non-smoking room, and when I arrived, I was told I had a single bed in a smoking room, and after pleading got a single double bed in a non-smoking room. The wall paper was coming off the walls, there was a person urinating outside on the lawn (actually quite funny, but disgusting), and someone pressed their face up against our window to looking to our room early one morning which forced us to remove all valuables from our room everytime we left. We would have used the safe in the room though it was broken. The cleaning staff was great while the front desk was much less so. I would never consider staying here again and would warn others from staying here, spend the money and go somewhere else.

Unfortunately, I did not check the reviews very thoroughly but should have. I am surprised that the travel website lists this hotel under their hotel search engine. I should have been suspicious when I saw trash all over the parking lot and in front of the guest rooms. My two children were with me and I did not feel comfortable having them sleep in the beds. I requested new sheets because it did not seem as though the bedsheets were clean. I had to go to the front desk and wait for the mgr. to get them. The bathroom had mildew all over the tub walls and the carpet was dirty. When I requested that another room be assigned the mgr. rudely asked, "Why, whats' wrong with the room?". I did not end up changing rooms because it was late and needed to get my kids off to bed. Thank goodness we were only there for one night. I would not recommend this hotel and will never stay at a Ramada again.

I enjoyed my night here . I Travel from Greece to VA once or twice a year and from now on I will stay at this Ramada. The staff here was very helpful. The airport shuttle was wonderful and even followed me to tun in my rental car. Only think I wish they would add to this place is a laundry room. I felt very safe at this Ramada in. But I had stayed at another Ramada in a few months before father down this military highway and it felt unsafe and a dump. I will be booking another room here this month and look forward to my stay.
