Great Stay

I booked this hotel online armed only with the reviews from this website, and I'm very glad I did. Great place to stay, friendly staff, clean rooms and smack in the middle of downtown Montreal. Lots of places to eat and play within walking distance. One thing though, LOCK YOUR DOOR. As one reviewer warned earlier, a maid opened my door on the first day right after knocking to give me chocolates and a bottle of water. I guess when I responded verbally, she took it to mean "Come on in". The DO NOT DISTURB sign means very little to the house-keeping staff, but this incident was easily over-looked by me, may be because I was fully clothed and the rest of my stay was very good. Parking as of my stay last week was $* for cars and $* for trucks, but all things considered, it was a great deal. Will most definitely stay there again in the future... Can't wait!

We were welcomed at the hotel very quickly and shown to our room. The bellhop gave us suggestions of what to do in the area and how to get to different areas of interest.
Items are higher because of tax so when you get the bill expect about 15% more than what the price says. It is not the tip but a good rule of thumb for good service it to leave about what the tax was and that will be about 15%, I found that god to know.
Lots of things to do and see within walking distance of the hotel and there is always a cab waiting if you want to go farther.

A wonderful hotel and great value for the money. Tremendous old world charm and a staff that acts like they've known you for years. Great location within easy walking of activities, bars and restaurants. On site there is a quiet bar with piano player and happy hour two-for-one prices every evening from 5 - 8 pm and on the roof, a lively bar, patio and swimming pool. The onsite restaurant/bistro has a diverse menu and excellent food. Couldn't imagine a better place to stay in downtown Montreal.
Very pleasantly surprised

I selected the hotel from the internet traveler reviews with some trepidation...since I was traveling out of the country and thought if I did not like the hotel I would be stuck in a country where I did not know the native language.
However, I was so thrilled with the hotel, the staff, the location - big rooms, comfortable beds, good room service. The concierge recommended a great little restaurant where I was able to eat outdoors by myself, and it was excellent.
For young persons, especially this is the hotel to be - discoteque with a "happening" pool bar area. But there were also some great lounges, and an outdoor rooftop terrace restaurant that offered other music and dining styles.
The only drawbacks - no fitness center (although I thought the Travel agent legend indicated there was one) and no business cente. There are coffee shops nearby that have free wi-fi stations, but there is nothing like having it on property.
I really like the hotel and would definitely choose it again!
This is a terrific hotel. Period.

We booked 4 nights at this hotel through online travel website and paid * per night. The room is HUGE, King size bed, lots of English channels on TV, the staff all speak English without making you feel guilty that you don't speak French. In the evening, Maid service brings you chocolates and the weather forecast for the next day, papers are free but mostly are French. Room has a minibar and a balcony and complementary robes (and it is clean). We have a food allergy and the restaurant was able to assist us with safe food choices. To compare, we had 2 nights at the Sheraton after this hotel and it had 4 English channels, a toilet that wouldn't stop flushing, a tub that didn't drain and a room door that had to be yanked to latch closed - all for a higher cost per night too. I will stay at the Hotel de la Montagne anytime I go back to Montreal. It is an excellent value for money hotel. It's about 3 blocks from the nearest Subway and just off Ste Catherine street where all the shopping is! What more could one want???
