So much for service and upkeep

The only thing that kept me in this hotel was that I was staying with a group--that an the check in clerk who would have done anything if she could. I moved to three separate rooms in less than 24 hours. First night: stuck me in a thoroughly disgusting smoking room in error, so rancid your throat burned the minute you walked in, with dirt and stains on the sofa and furniture. (Sorree-we-are booked-up.) Had to leave window open (no screen) on a railyard doing maintenance work all night long. Second day--moved to room in which key did not work and had to trudge downstairs with all my luggage again, the front desk insisting I simply hadn't pushed the key firmly enough. I had to make them come upstairs and prove to them the key did not fit the door. Room also had no working A/C; after three hours the front desk was still telling me to "wait another 15 minutes to see if it came on" and never bothered to order maintenance as they said they would. Then they tried to make me stay in the room because their maintenance man hadn't pronounced the unit formally dead. Moved to third room and had to chase the flies out, only to discover the lock did not work on the door. Again said they would put in a work order (6 am) and by 4pm no one had come. At this point I gave up because I had to be at work and could not continue to play games. What a pity that this nice-looking hotel is such a lemon. They have a few good employees who are eclipsed by the rest. Breakfast was nothing to mention--either menu or "free" continental.

We made the horrible mistake of showing up 20 minutes before the end of the morning continental breakfast. By the time we got there the employees had removed everything and clearly could give a crap about the customers.
Worst part, the reason they stopped serving the breakfast was so they could upsell us to the brunch which was $* per person! What a load of !@#$! I like how they act like the breakfast is free when in fact the cost of the breakfast is built into the room rate.
It looks as if this place used to have good service but the quality has really gone down. Very dissapointing.
Great place to stay!

I liked the room but the some rooms are not as quiet. Staff very friendly and accomindating. Clean all around. Having the business center availible was great! Most food was top notch.
Still a Great Value

Despite the passed shelf-life continental breakfast and a couple of other pet peeves, I could not have been more pleased than I was with the room and the pool. I think that as far as value in Tacoma, this is the best.

VERY pleased with the room and the pool. Very quiet, comfortable room and clean, inviting pool/spa area. Convenient free parking, too. Just three negative comments: a panhandler approached me for money just outside the premises, the free continental breakfast seemed to feature items that had passed their shelf-life and, a promise made by the front desk staff that towels would be brought out to us poolside because there were none available at the time - never happened. (They specify using towels located at the frontdesk - not towels from the room.) All and all I would stay here again.
