Needs some TLC

The staff at this hotel was VERY friendly. Very helpful and knowledgable about the area. They did manage to clean the room properly the day after we arrived, but the room itself was small (too small) had dirty lampshades, dirty doors, dirty curtains, and bottom line was in need of renovation. It also smelled like someone had been smoking in it (it was a non-smoking room). The fitness facility was cardio equipment only, and on the lifestride machine, the pedals were loose. I didn't tell anyone, because I chose to use the stationary bike (which had no straps on the pedals). I paid over $* per night for this hotel, and I now wonder why? This was a $* per night hotel only. In fact, it is a MOTEL. On top of that, my daughter was in the hospital nearby, so it was only used for family who wanted a break to come back and take a nap. I tried to take a nap at 1:30 and the room I was in was above the hotel's laundry facility for sheets/towels. The people working around that area, and above it (maid service) were so loud that I had a hard time napping. But that I can attribute to them being outside. When in Baltimore, I will stay at a $200 plus hotel because apparently, you get what you pay for now, and that now means that $* is now equal to $* in this area.
Not really impressed. Sorry.
