I really thought that after this amount of time, I would not be as angry about how my friends and I were treated here, but I was wrong. It randomly came up again in conversation today and I just know that I have to warn people about the Harmony Motel because I feel just as upset as I did four months ago.
The woman who is the proprietor of this hotel, is an awful, ill-meaning person. Here are my explanations for such an ad hominem attack: 1.) She accused my friends and I not once, not twice, but repeatedly of having intentions to "party" or otherwise wreck her motel. Quite honestly, we are all college-educated, honest, hard-working people who had no such intention. All we wanted was a quiet reprieve in Joshua Tree, to hike and look at old Americana. When we were unpacking, she had the audacity to pull Danielle aside, from the rest of us. Thus marked the start of the accusations. She even threatened to add costs of "damages" if she found anything amiss in the room to our bill! 2.) My friends happen to be smokers. They are incredibly respectful people regardless. They smoked outside. The woman told them they weren't allowed to smoke inside to which Ian responded "That's why we're outside." The harrassment was based soley on this woman seeing five people in their early 20s and assuming the . Her accusations were not only unwarranted, but excessive, demeaning assaults on our character. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID. There are plenty of nice, reasonably-priced hotels in the area. Please, please just bypass this place. It's not worth it.
Advertising Doesn't Fit the Bill

We stayed here because U2 did, and also it was advertised as within walking distance to Joshua Tree national Park. It is not; the park entrance is about 2 to 3 miles away. This place needs a serious makeover if it wishes to remain in business. Everything is old , including the pool area. The room's bathroom had the smallest shower we had ever seen. My husband, who is fit, could barely get in it. There is no central air, just small units in the windows. Due to asthma, we could not run that; so had to sleep with the windows open in the over 100 degree heat. The motel sits right on the highway. It did have internet available, so that was nice. There are many new motels very nearby, so Harmony needs a lot of spit and polish to compete. It is fun to be nostalgic about Bono having been there, but we would not stay here again.

Two of us rented the cabin for a week in March into Apreil and found it quite nice. The cabin was very clean and the kitchen was fully equipped-we had everything we needed! It was conveniently located to Joshua Tree National Park where we spent everyday. a large grocery store is just down the road as well as other establishments. The new owner, Ash, has done a nice job of renovating and her warm personality madus feel most welcome.
