Don't bother staying here if you like hot water and a clean room. Tiles are missing from the walls throughout the hotel. Electrical wires show in the elevators which make strange noises. Breakfast area is nasty (this part was a very nice restaurant about 10 years ago). The beds are old and lumpy which resulted in not a lot of sleep. The balcony area is full of bird poop which was disgusting. The view is very nice and so was the fishing pier. We left after one night and moved to a different hotel which we found on our own. It's so sad to see a hotel full of history to not be taken care of by the owners. My kids and I were very disappoointed, but my husband did enjoy the fishing pier. There are much nicer places to stay in Galveston at about the same rates. Keep looking..... Galveston is great.

Our stay here was AWFUL, The first room had an AC unit that was so loud we had to ask to change rooms. They gave us new key cards and told us to move rooms. The next room's AC was broke. It was set on 40 degrees when we walked in, but it was hot and humid in the room. We turned off the AC, waited 20 minutes and turned it back on.. still broke. So they moved us rooms agian. Guess what! At bed time my daughter went to take her shower and there was NO hot water in that room. So, this time I was getting a bit angry so they just gave us two key cards to two other rooms and told us to keep our room, and we could just shower in another room, we could take our pick of the two. (we basically ended up with 3 rooms) Funny thing was, one of the key cards they gave us this time was to the room with the broken AC, so evidently it was still open and had not been closed for repair. The staff was very nice about it all though, they seemed like they knew there were alot of problems with their rooms. Also, anyone who is afraid of small spaces should NOT stay here, elevators are the smallest I've ever seen.
I must say, the location is as awesome as it was when I was a child and stayed there. Every room has a balcony, and what can beat looking straight down into the water from your balcony??? If they would just remodel, repair, and update the hotel it would be the only place I would stay when we go each summer.

I loved the Flagship! You can stay at an overpriced Hilton or Ramada anywhere, but where else can you stay the night on a pier out over the water? Only in Galveston! The hotel is older but very neat and clean. Hotel staff was friendly. Water pressure was better than at my own house! The hotel has an antique charm to it and even has a light smell like an old book does. We sat on our balcony and ate lunch while watching dolphins not even 100 yards away!!! It was unbelievable! We left our sliding glass door cracked the whole time to let the cool ocean breeze in. It was amazing falling asleep and waking up to the sound of wave’s right below you! If you are driving a luxury vehicle with all leather seats and cup warmers, please go somewhere else because this hotel doesn't need high maintenance snobs griping about their pillows not being fluffy or whatever. For those of you who want an unforgettable experience, this is the place! I would stay here again and again!
