The rooms are quite large, clean and brightly decorated. In our room there were 2 double beds and still plenty of room for a cot for larger families. Rooms are equipped with an iron, ironing board, coffee maker with complimentary coffee, and mini-fridge. The rooms have a small patio (no patio furniture).Pool towels are available at the front desk so there is no need to take them from your room.
Request a room in building one, 4th floor or higher, facing Disneyland. These rooms offer a wonderful view of the Disneyland fireworks.
There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there are many within one block, such as Millie''s, McDonalds, IHOP, Denny''s and Tony Romas.
The hotel is within walking distance to the parks, taking less than 10 minutes to the front entrance. The hotel also has a shuttle service that runs 1/2 hourly. When we did use the shuttles we find them to be on time and efficient. There is a small gift shop/snack shop that had reasonable prices.
This is a great place to stay close to the parks at a reasonable price.

Mimi's Cafe, which is not part of the hotel, contrary to what the HJ website suggests, has decent food and is a nice change of pace if you have been eating at Disneyland all week. While it is family-friendly, I wouldn't recommend it if you have children and want them to have the classic Disney experience, because the hotel is the bare minimum, no frills. It is a place to rest at night. That is it. Overall, the room was not that great, but if you would rather save your money for activities and not put it towards a room you won't be spending much time in, Howard Johnson is a good choice.

The hotel sits on 7 acres and the grounds are nicely landscaped. The main pool also has a Jacuzzi, wading pool, and splash zone for the little ones. Rooms are very moderately priced, with an excellent restaurant right next door.
