Sheraton San Diego Marina Hotel was great!

June 2009: Two of us stayed at the Sheraton Marina and really enjoyed it. There were 2 large pools and hot tubs on the property. The bedding felt new and the room was clean with a new rug. The balcony view was great of the Marina and the main harbor where we could see boats and ships coming and going. At night we could see the Sea World fire works. The Sheraton played an outdoor movie at the pool area on weekends. Service was very polite and fast. We walked to eating places on Harbor Island (Maria's Cafe, Tom Ham's Lighthouse, C Level/Seaview Prime, and the Boat House-which had good specials). We did not rent a car due to the expense. We took a cab into town ($13-15) to Seaport Village, Zoo/Balboa Park, and Gas Lamp District. Once away from Harbor Island, we ate out in town. We also ate at Quinns inside the Sheraton which had great salads. The Sheraton airport shuttle ran all day. After looking at the nearby Hilton, and smaller Sheraton Bay Tower, we would definitely stay here again at the Sheraton Marina.

I spent the past weekend at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina and was INCREDIBLY impressed! The staff notified me they just underwent a $35 million renovation and it was evident. Every room has a balcony with a panoramic view and incredible mahogany furnishings.
The Sheraton made me feel like I was at an exotic resort, yet I was a stone's throw from downtown San Diego! I would without a doubt recommend this to any traveler heading to San Diego.
Watch for fees

This was a very nice, very big hotel. The rate was very reasonable, but watch out for fees. Travelocity does not list "parking" as a possible fee/charge. But they charge a mandatory $22/night parking fee. As much as it might be on the hotels website, it is not on Travelocity. The also charge $12 or so for 24 hours of internet and it is not wireless! Rediculous.
The hotel is very nice, the beds comfortable and the rooms clean. One other draw back is that the hotel is very large and has other towers that you have to drive to, they are not on the same property... there are no restaraunts in these towers, but you can get roomservice...
A pleasant stay

I recently stayed in the Bay Tower for a three day get-away. I wasn't sure if my reservation was at the the Bay or the Marina tower, but a hotel employee met me on the entry drive and was able to tell me in seconds that I was in the Bay Tower just down the street. I was checked in promptly and courteously. I was offered a choice of king bed or two doubles. My room was quite pleasant with a lovely view of the marina. The bath was clean and adequate if a bit small. The staff were all friendly and helpful with directions, etc. I do wish the room had been outfitted with a phone directory, but that is a very minor complaint. There was internet hookup and video game thingies for those who might be inclined. All in all, it was a great value for the money -- I booked through Hotwire. I would not hestitate to stay there again.

Reservation very misleading!! We booked a king bed room, when we arrived we were told that the reservation was for the Bay tower, which was not listed when we selected this hotel. We were told that there was not a king bed left in the main hotel or they would change it. So we were sent walking with our luggage along the marina for 1/4 mile to the Bay Tower! Which did not have a restaurant, rooms were very average and VERY noisy!! You could hear the planes from the airport and the stool in the adjoining room!!! The room smelled like a smoking room, although the hotel is smoke free! The only good thing I can say is the staff was very courteous and helpful. No, I would not stay there again.
