I was impressed

This is the only hotel in the area with a refridge and microwave. The room was clean. The bathroom is a little old, but clean. If highway noise bothers you, stay in the back of the hotel. The breakfast was nice and fresh with muffins, danishes, bananas, waffles.

Not bad for the money

I have to admit we were a little leary about staying here because it was so cheap. I imagined a smelly room and bugs . But we were pleasantly surprised and actually stayed at this hotel twice this year (2008) because our child goes to Kent State. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel do not stay here . But if you are looking for a cheap ,clean room it isnt bad i have seen worse and for more money . The only thing is the bathrooms do need to be updated but it was clean. Breakfast is the same thing everyday nothing to write home about weak coffee but again what do you want for the money . Go to Bob Evans down the street if you are looking for bacon & eggs. Didnt use the pool or hot tub so i cant comment did see it and it looked clean. I would recommend this hotel if you are just looking for a place to lay your head at night .

Check-in was easy, and the lobby was clean, if small. It did smell of chlorine from the pool. The entire floor our room was on smelled like smoke. We had accepted a smoking room since none other was available; when I opened the window to air the room out, I discovered there was no screen. It was early enough in the year that insects weren't much of a concern, but if we had been on the ground floor I wouldn't have felt comfortable leaving it open for safety reasons. The room was fairly clean, although there were cigarrette burns in the bedspreads and carpet, and mildew at the bottom of the shower curtain. The light fixture in the bathroom had nothing but a bare bulb. My biggest complaint was that during our entire stay we were unable to get an outside phone line. When we first got there and found that dialling '9' per instructions only got us an error tone of fast beeping, we dialed the desk and asked for help. The girl at the desk said that the hotel only had four phone lines, and that they may all be in use. However, no matter how long we waited, and how many times we kept trying back, we got the same result. We called the front desk again, the girl suggested we dial '0' instead. When we explained that that was how we reached the desk, not an outside line, she had no further suggestions, and made no offer to attempt to figure out how to fix it. I was able to use my cell phone, but had been hoping not to have to waste the charge. We couldn't call out the entire time. The clerk who checked us out was much friendlier and more polite.

Not that impressed...

My biggest complaint was cleanliness, or rather, the lack thereof. The bed sheets had not been washed. There were hairs and stains all over the entire bed and sheets. Disgusting. The hotel is about 2 car lengths from a very busy road, so noise was an issue. Bathrooms are very, very tiny - got a little claustrophobic while inside. Paint was peeling and there was a small hole in the ceiling. Staff was ok. They weren't mean or anything but they didn't ask us if we enjoyed our stay while checking out (I've never stayed at a hotel where they haven't asked if we enjoyed our stay). Overall, I was not impressed. This was the first time I've stayed at a one-star hotel, and after staying here, my wife and I decided this would be the last time. Spend a few extra bucks and get at least a two-star.
