Disappointed

Upon arriving at the airport we called to arrange for a shuttle (which we were told was included by the hotel rep we confirmed our reservation with). The women who we spoke with on the phone was extremely rude and informed us that we could take the airport shuttle - for $15 a piece - but that a hotel shuttle was not included. We were okay with this and chalked it up to an earlier misunderstanding. Upon checking in we were also informed that the 'Free Breakfast' which was also supposed to be included - only meant coffee in the lobby. The night hotel staff was extremely unhelpful and acted like they didn't want you there - however there was one nice employee at the desk the morning we left. The room itself was decent - however walls must be pretty thin because you can hear your neighbors as though they were in the same room.

We had the VERY unfortunate experience of booking. The moment we checked it was HORRIBLE!!! Bad service. The hotel lobby and bar were clean but, we ordered a King Deluxe room @ $$ per night. We were given a Queen Standard that went for $$ per night and when I asked if the difference was going to be applied to my card I was told that Non smoking and room sizes we requests and not guaranteed. Well what a way to start a vacation. When we finally made it to the room, the carpets were FILTHY. They looked as though they had never been cleaned since the 2001 renovation. Ohhh BTW what year was Katrina? The sheets had huge holes in them. If the maid is not paying attention to the condition of the sheets, is she really changing them and putting on clean ones? The bathroom was used before we got to the room, the toilet seat was in the UP POSITION and had not sanitized. There was MOLD AND MILDEW so thick on the shower curtain, I suffered an asthma attack when I went into the bathroom. When I called Visa they contacted the frond desk agent, she called our room and asked 'Are you leaving or what!, do I need to send someone up there to clean it' As we checked out less than an hour after we checked in the VERY FRIENDLY (not at all) front desk agent let me know she talked to the GM That nothing was going to be done and I was going to be charged a cancellation fee of $$$. This was a bad choice for a hotel , Bad customer service, dirty room and just a horrible experience all

When we arrived we asked about the valet parking that with the package we had purchased was 50% off. We were told that they were full and that we needed to park a couple of blocks down and pay full price. We then waited in line to check in. We arrived later in the evening so the hotel bar was playing music. The music was so loud that the desk clerk could not hear any of the guests. We also tried to talk to the clerk and he couldn?t hear us so we handed him our ID. He checked us into ONE of the TWO rooms that we had reserved. When we saw the sheet he handed us we noticed that there was only one room and we tried to tell him that we had two rooms. When finally understood us he informed us that we should have told him that in the beginning and to go to the back of the line. After we finally got checked into the second room we found that only one of the three elevators was working. Once we finally got to our rooms we found that the ?non-smoking? rooms we had reserved smelled like smoke and one of the rooms had a wet floor and smelled like someone had gone to the bathroom. Neither room had washcloths or ironing boards and only one of the two rooms had an iron. Things got even better the next day when we tried to use the free harbor cruise that came with our hotel package. No one knew anything about the cruise and we were told that we did not know what we were talking about. Even though they had handed us a sheet advertising the cruise for a package the next month. DON?T STAY HERE!

Wonderful find.

I was thrilled with the Royal St. Charles. New Orleans hotels can leave a lot wanting...not this one! Clean, well maintained, friendly and helpful staff. Terrific location. Can't wait to return.

We booked this hotel for New Year's Eve and the Sugar Bowl because of its proximity to Bourbon Street & the Superdome. Super convenient! Valet parking was $25 a night, so that extra $50 wasn't expected... but not a big enough deal to matter in the grand scheme of it all. The room was small, but we didn't spend much time in it anyway. Although, we had a GREAT corner view. Overall, I'll book this hotel next time the Dawgs make the Sugar Bowl. I assure you.
