Only if you're desperate!

I would never stay here again!
The good:
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were fine. The staff really went out of their way to be helpful.
The bad:
This hotel still has smoking floors- which was definitely NOT helpful for our allergic friend staying there.
The really ugly:
The neighborhood is NOT what I'm looking to come 'home' to while on vacation. Even cabs didn't seem to want to take us back. We took a trip there for the US Open, and chose those hotel because it was "walking distance" from the stadium. That- it was CERTAINLY not. You had to take a train to and from Shea Stadium- in the evening though, that was not the safest option. In the future, I would stay in Manhattan- there's much more to do locally, and more variety.
Unless you're up for a Law and Order style adventure or know you can hold your own in unsafe neighborhoods- I would venture elsewhere in the city! I grew up in a city, but was still really overwhelmed with the neighborhood.
Enjoy my stay

Room was small and "dingy", but relatively clean. Beds weren't overly comfortable

This was a good location for my educational conference, but is was really small for the money. I realize this is NY but for $*, I would have expected a little more space. It was clean and tidy. A well cared for facility, but small.
