Marriott's Mountainside at Park City

  • January 10, 2006

This is a timeshare that rents out its rooms in the summer at a very reasonable rate. If you look, you can often find a two-bedroom unit below $150/night. These units have a full kitchen and a washer/dryer. The hotel has an amazing pool and great gas grills poolside. The Park City trolley picks you up right in front of the hotel and will take you to any of its stops for free. The hotel also has a ski lift and Alpine slide right out its back door.

Best Things Nearby:
By far, the best thing about this timeshare resort is the fact that the Payday ski lift is right beside the property, super convenient for skiing.

Best Things About the Resort:
The convenience of the Payday ski lift, the convenience of free on-site ski storage, the convenience of restaurants and shops within walking distance, and the fact that i is a relatively new property in good condition are the best things.

Resort Experience:
We stayed at this property with a timeshare exchange through Interval International. We flew into the Salt Lake City airport, rented a car, and drove approximately 35 miles to the resort. The property looks relatively new and is in great condition.

Our room was a one-bedroom efficiency unit, meaning it wasn't super spacious, but there was plenty of room to accommodate me and my husband. There was a king-size bed and a sleeper sofa. There was a kitchenette complete with mini-fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. In the kitchenette area, there is a small table and chair set.

As previously mentioned, convenience is key for the Marriott Mountainside. The Payday ski lift is right by the outdoor pool and hot tub area. It is so convenient to ski down the mountain, pop off your skis, walk into the property, and store your skis at the free on-site ski storage. There is a nice heated pool and hot tub area, which was a popular activity on most days. Service was very good. There was a friendly front desk staff. There was also a friendly gentleman at the concierge desk in the lobby that provided area information and restaurant suggestions.

There is a nice modern workout room adjacent to the ski storage area. The cozy and roomy owner’s lounge is a good place to hang out and play pool, etc. Parking is inside a parking garage underneath the property, which means no scraping off ice or snow when ready to take a drive.

Marriott Mountainside (Summit Watch)

The Summitwatch is on Main Street, which makes it easier to drive to Deer Valley. Mountainside, the other Marriott property, is on the Park City Resort mountain and is a true 'ski in and out' timeshare. But if you don't ski Park City it is a pain to drive to and from Deer Valey or The Canyons, the traffic is bad.

Summitwatch has big one and two-bedroom apartments. They are clean and well maintained with laundry facilities in the units. We loved being on Main Street. My wife does not ski anymore because of a torn ACL, so she shops!

Best Things Nearby:
Skiing, Restaurants, art galleries. The Olympic Village, Salt Lake City.

Best Things About the Resort:
The unit is fabulous. The outdoor pool and hot tob are gorgeous. Skiing is outside your door.

Resort Experience:
Yes. I went to ski country in the summer. But it is just gorgeous there. I saw the ski lifts out my window and imagened the winter wonderland it must be. There were mountain bikers enjoying the hills, but I''m not that brave. The resort must have been pretty new because it was fabulous. The unit is the "lock off" type with a one bedroom with a full kitchen, and then a lock off studio-style with a microwave, mini-fridge and coffeemaker. We had the whole thing and in was very comfortable, spaceous beautifully appointed. There was a full fitness center and an outdoor pool and whirlpool spas. I could not find an indoor pool. I did think there were too many kids and despite a rule that age 13 and older only are allowed in the hot tubs, there were kids everywhere - in the fitness center, in the hot tubs... The resort offered some nice optional tours for a fee to the Temple Square and the Olympic facilities. We liked it so much, we bought an "every other year week" and will go back the week of Thanksgiving. Word is there will be enough snow to ski. The newsletter indicated that they plan to purchase some new furnishings namely bedding.

This is a great place for familes or couples travelling together to stay. There are two bedrooms--one master and one guest. We stayed in the master bedroom, and it was terrific. The two TV''s in the suite allowed my two nephews to take charge of their own remote control. There was a king size bed in the master bedroom and a queen pullout couch in the living room. There was also a fireplace, kitchen and balcony. Well worth the money.
