Not much sleep

We stayed at this motel on 3/25/08. we chose this motel based on the price and favorable overall review scores listed here on the travel website. I didn't get much sleep due to the mattress being very uncomfortable (old) and guests in room above us were walking back and forth across their room for what seemed like the entire night, making creeking and thud noises. The buidling was obviously older. We could also hear the TV from the neighboring room through the thin walls. I sure could have used some sleeping pills. The room was in need of remodeling. I didn't bother with the "complimentary continental breakfast" because the 4 person eating area in the lobby didn't leave me with much anticipation for the breakfast. The location was excellent. Just a couple minutes away from Cannery Row, Monterey Aquarium and Fisherman's Warf. Since we were on a budget, the price was right. Just remember, you get what you pay for.
Our overall stay was okay .

We were in town for our son's graduation, from the Presidio, at the end of February. The weather was cool so the pool was unavailable. The price we were charged was more than online travel website quoted. The continental breakfast was in a very small area near the front desk and offered just the minimum for what we have had at previous Super 8's.

We came to Monterey for a Vacation and we were very delighted with our stay. The rooms were very clean and large. Also they provide continental breakfast that has good selctions of cereals , danish, bagels etc.
Manager was helpful in providing assistance on recommendation for sights in and around carmel. Very quite and neatly furnished rooms.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Monterey. I have stayed in many hotels in monterey, and I think this is one of the best ones I stayed in. The rooms are very spacious, the staff is excellent, and the location is great.
We also got great value for our money.

We checked in at this motel at 7 pm on Sunday. The owner did not share the common customer courtesy. He was rude. If our credit card had not already been charged, we would not stay in this motel that night because there are over a dozen motels close by. The room has a reasonable size but it was filthy with some smell of urine. We called the front desk to request a room change but the owner refused to do so. After we warned him that we would complain directly to the Super 8, the owner finally gave us another room. The breakfast was bad and the dinning area has only two tables with four chairs all together. Like us, many other guests had no choice but to skip the breakfast though it is free. Overall, staying in this motel is a terrible experience. We definitely will never stay in this motel again!!
