Great Hotel for Shopping Trip

Great Hotel for Shopping Trip

We have just some back from a shopping trip to Rochester New York and decided to stay at this hotel as it had good reviews and also gets me Marriottt Rewards!

The hotel is located to the south of Rochester and is within 15 minutes of downtown and many shopping malls. It is located just off a main road and we were allocated a king suite in the tower section of the hotel. There are lots of different suite types at the hotel and some are classed as cottages but the tower suites are at the rear of the hotel and so avoid the traffic noise at the front.

Our suite had a living room area, bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and vanity area with closet. Everything was clean and tidy.

The living area has a sofa, chair, table and shares a TV with the bedroom (TV swivels). The kitchen area had a large fridge/freezer, microwave, cooktop, dishwasher, sink, coffee maker and all the crockery and cutlery you need including napkins etc. They also supply coffee, sugar, powdered milk and microwave popcorn.

If you forget something you can visit the small shop in the reception area where they sell chips, chocolate, pizza, microwave meals, ice cream etc. If you need milk you will not find it in the shop, instead ask reception and they will get some for you free of charge. You can also leave a shopping list at reception and they will get it all for you, no charge other than the items themselves.

The room comes with a free breakfast which is served between 6:30 and 9:30 am. There is coffee, hot water, juice, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, bagels, bread, toast, muffins etc. Each morning there is also a selection of hot items. We had scrambled eggs, potatoes, french toast, pancakes and burgers whilst we were there. Different things on different days.

All in all I think this hotel is very good value for money. The rooms are large and with the living room means you do not have to watch TV from your bed as with a standard hotel room. Parking is free and located around the hotel and outside all rooms. The was a pool but as it was March it was covered. They also have a gym and a business area. Wireless high speed internet access is free from the rooms.

The hotel is well located as it is within easy reach of all major locations within Rochester and the surrounding areas. There are lots of places to shop and eat nearby, so the fact there is not a restaurant in the hotel doesn’t matter.

The only negative point I would make is that the cottages and tower suites are located away from the reception and breakfast area. If it is raining as it was on our arrival day it means you have to go outside to get to the breakfast area or reception & gym. This is the only negative, but may be a big one depending on the weather.

Stayed here on business. Staff took great care of each guest. The morning breakfast was great. When I asked about an early checkout to catch a 6:30 am flight, the nice woman who was in charge of the breakfast arranged to open early just for me. Rooms clean and nice. Highly recommended.
