Cozy hotel in great location

  • May 17, 2008

The Muse was a great choice for visiting mid Manhattan. We happened to get a very reasonable rate (although most of the time the rates are a bit too expensive). The service from the front desk and bellhop was excellent. The restaurant needs some improvement. The menu was very limited, uninteresting and overpriced. The complimentary wine hour was a nice touch. We had a corner room, which was relatively quiet and had nice views. The decor was great. There is a deli on the corner of 46th and Sixth (Europa Cafe) that is good for a quick breakfast. There is also a more modern coffee shop north a block or two on Sixth -- on the east side of Sixth with a variety of coffees and also has chia tea. Theaters are all within walking distance. The same day half price ticket booth is just a few blocks away.

Perfect Boutique for Theater Weekend

We love to go to NYC for a heavy dose of broadway shows. The Muse is perfect for this, and will now be our top choice. The room was bigger than in most boutique hotels, and new furnishings were posh, comfortable, and hightech. Our i-pod and i-phone plugged right into the radio for charging and playing, and the large LCD TV was great too. We never heard a peep from other guests or the outside world once we closed the door. The lobby is small, but it's got all of these chaise lounges that are great for hanging out when getting ready for a show. We got 2 free newspapers delivered to our door each morning (including the $5 Sunday Times), and the staff was quick to provide extra towels and shampoo when asked. And the soap and shampoo is fabulous! We never waited more than a minute for the elevator (sometimes a problem in NYC). And we were just steps away from the Bway theaters, but far enough off times square to avoid the crazy crowds. Didn't eat at the restaurant, but they had a free dessert bar and free wine tasting that was great. We'll be back for sure.

Great Location Good Hotel

Right in the heart of all the activity of the Theatre District and a short walk to everything in Mid-town. Rooms were typically NY small but very well appointed with wonderful beds. The Hotel is finishing renovations so although there were great flat screen TV's the channels were limited until the new system is installed. Rooms were upscale and clean and the staff was very helpful and attentive. Concierge was great at getting us transportation back to JFK. One big drawback is that the building next door was recently demolished and they are still jack hammering out the old foundation. Ask for a room away from that side of the building if you want to sleep past 5:30 a.m. Overall, a very positive experience in a great location. It was a good hotel if you travel with teens (and don't mind a lack of privacy due to a smaller room) with a nice size bath and big flufy towels. We do plan on staying there again on our next trip to the Big Apple.

Great hotel stay!

My daughter and I were in town for the Winwood/Clapton concert at MSG. I did some research on the hotel, and others in the area, but was basically trusting the reviews I read, and it turned out to be a really good choice to stay at the Muse. Clean rooms, beautiful decor, all of the staff we were in contact with were friendly, professional, helpful, no exceptions. A very comfortable, classy, and desirably located place to stay in the city. It was another part of what was a memorable and enjoyable journey.
