Great Mini Vacation

Went for a mini vacation and enjoyed the stay. My flight came in very late, but was able to check into my room upon arrival to get a room to my standards. Room was great, bed very comfortable. Couldn't tell you I really enjoyed the massive crowd outside the hotel doors on Freemont Experience, but I would do it all over again..
Golden Nugget Hotel - a classy hotel!

We stayed in the Golden Nugget Hotel from March 29 - April 2, 2009. The front desk was very friendly, changed our room upon request for the next evening - upgraded to a king size bed with no additional charges. The rooms were very clean & comfortable. The service was A-1. We liked using the coupon book given to us at check-in. Some good deals available. My husband loved the Valet service - quick and curteous. The buffet was great - we enjoyed the breakfast buffet x 2 and loved the selection and value (drinks included in price!!). Check in and check out were both quick & efficient. We loved the downtown atmosphere with easy accesibility to Fremont Street. We highly recommend this hotel and would stay again!!
The only negatives - the valet parking entrance was a little hard for us to find and there was construction going on in close proximity.
Very good for the money. Restful, quiet for a casino

I was happily surprised. The room was clean, smelled good, bed was comfortable and the floor I was on was quiet. I loved having a lighted makeup mirror at the vanity. That never happens! I am not big on staying at casino hotels and don't particularly like Las Vegas, but had to be there for business. It was enjoyable. The food was very good at the Grotto.
Terrible Staff - good food though

Reservation/Ticket Staff - Awful. Not helpful or friendly. Could not believe these people were the first and last impressions of a hotel. There were always 3-4 people behind a desk, yet only one person was actually helping the guest, we felt like we were nuisances whenever we wanted to ask a question Don't use the VIP check-in, it's a scam. We weren't sure about the VIPness of it all, it wasn't any different than the front desk, except there was a fridge with cold drinks. We traveled with a debit card, VIP check in said they needed to authorize at least $300 on the debit card or take $300 in cash for a deposit. Then said that they were not authorized to change that policy - we were never notified of that policy upon reservation of the room.
Restaurants - Staff and food was great, at every single food service outlet in the hotel.
Housekeeping - Kept our rooms extremely tidy, left for barely 30 min one morning and found our room already made-up.
Room - Comfortable beds, no hair dryer or coffee maker. Room was nothing spectacular, standard.
Pool - The shark tank was cool. Triple decker seating. Except two girls got in a fist fight in the pool, one started to bleed out in the pool and they had to close it on a Saturday afternoon. Our cocktail server disappeared for 30 minutes, so you may just want to order drinks at the bar.
Misc. - Wireless was available throughout the hotel and pool at $12.99/24 hours. Spa automatically tacks on 20% gratuity. Invoice upon checkout was not clear with charges, lumped spa credits and adjustments all under "custom package."
A great getway

It was wonderful to end the Spring vacation on a positive note. My wife and I spent three days at the Golden Nugget and enjoyed everything we could in a short period of time. We LOVE the Nugget and it was nice to see the prices come down.
