Great stay downtown at the Golden Nugget

We stayed at the Golden Nugget because I've always thought Downtown was where the better values are. I contacted the motel prior to arrivial to make sure everything was good, and the offer VIP check in for $20. I went ahead and did it and was glad I did. Check in was easy, no waiting in line and we were able to check in hour ahead of normal ckeck in time. We started to rent a car, but the shuttles were so easy to find, " the bell hops at the nugget were very helpful". We did take the duece one day down to the strip, apart from the Hooters casino, we couldn't wait to get back downtown. The strip was crowded , dirty, lots of waking, and basically not worth it. Lots of construction going on. We were able to find lots of the old values still downtown, free comps at all the casinos for joining thier Players Club. Good meals, Free casino play etc...Plus being able to do so much more in less time without all the walking or catching a bus. Try the north end of downtown { during the day time only). El Cortez payed for our trip with with several jackpots. The fremont street expierence was great. Downtown nobody hassled us and dressing in a pair of shorts and tee shirt is the norm. We did do a time share( just to keep us out of the casinos for a couple of hours and see more of the city} and it was'nt too bad, after a couple of hours of saying NO, we got free show tickets and a $100 in casino play. Great stay, Downtown the only place to stay

We stayed the tail end of memorial day weekend. Check in was fine. Our room was on the 17 th floor with a magnificent view of the roof, and contruction site below. The noise was loud, and I think 24 hours, but we still slept ok. Hey we wern't in the room very much so who cares when we only were paying 49.00 a nite. Thats why it was 49.00....The rooms were clean, but I was dissapointed by the size of the TV(small). The room was quite a walk to the casino,The good news is that you had to walk by the pool to get to the casino. The pool itself is a good reason to stay at the Nugget.Very relaxing.......Nice babes too........ We were a little disappointed with the buffet. It was average at best.We thought the Main Street Hotel had the best buffet. Overall I would stay there again, with the construction, small tv,and long walk to the casino, if they give me the 49.00 rooms

Currently stayed here for our wedding and honeymoon...Construction right out the window that went all night long...Had to change rooms and it took them assigning us 3 rooms to get a room comparable to what we had...Housekeeping does not knock before entering...Leave your Privacy sign up or you could have housekeeping seeing you in the wee mornings and you may not have anything on...Casino was nice but the table limits were higher than some places...Pool was also nice but very crowded when we were there...Will stay at the Plaze on my next trip...Casino was fun and the staff there was great...

The room we were promised was not available. the replacement was non smoking..( we both smoke) we had to interupt out activities the next day to do a room change. That nite and next day our room WAS NOT refreshed..Towels,sheets etc. while at the motel I gambled approx. 12 hours a day. I asked a waitress to get some cigarettes for me and was told NO. I asked the pit boss and stated I would PAY and tip for them.. I was ignored..This is UN heard of in vegas in a casino. There was ONE employee that apologized and was truely sorry about this experience..(Poker room Pit boss Pete) third shift i believe. It was a beautiful hotel and casino.

Golden Nugget / Disappointed

I was disappointed with the GN. The casino was cramped and I felt overwhelmed by the smell of smoke. Slots were tight. Pool area far to small for the size of the hotel. Rooms were noisy with doors slamming. Guests on my floor were drunk and noisy. Did not feel safe while walking up Freemont St. However, if you like to visit a variety of casinos within walking distance of the GN, and play many different types of slots, the GN is in a great location .
