We stayed four nights at the Golden Nugget and LOVED it. We upgraded to the North Tower with a view of the mountains and Freemont Street. The bed was so very comfy and the flat screen was a plus. Check in and check out was a breeze. The two ladies at the Bell Desk were a little snooty but everyone else was great and friendly. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, the omlett station is fantastic. Also, visit at the Grotto resturant,. FYI - The slot machines are tight.
Golden Experience at the Golden Nugget

This was our second stay at this classy but "real" Las Vegas icon. The Freemont area offers so much of what classic Las Vegas always has offered; fun, fantasy and freedom. The hotel employees treat you like family. We had gone in November of this year, and on our return visit in May... at least 3 times, pit bosses and bartenders said "it's great to see you here again".
Rooms are clean and bright, and the pool area is both relaxing and unique, with a huge and beautiful shark fillled aquarium, in the middle of it. A true must see to experience the exotic but cosy feel of the lagoon area.
Slot play is profitable and table games are laid back. None of the pretense of other casinos and hotels on the southern part of the strip! We will continue to stay at this four star rated hotel that is value bar none for its ambiance, location and security.

The GN is a nice hotel, especially compared to the rest of the hotels downtown. Room was clean and room even offered complimentary robes! Hotel was crowded during the day, but quiet at night. Housekeeping did a wonderful job, with fresh towels every day even though we were willing to reuse/recycle. Hotel is building a new tower which is to open in the summer, and will be bigger than existing towers. Cafe and buffet were both decent, although the buffet was a bit pricy for what you get. Pool was well populated but not too crowded, and has the waterslide thorugh the shark tank experience that all can see! Snack shop at the elevators to the South Tower was open late and had good selection of soda and snacks, which was nice. Only difficulty was finding the check-in desk. Ended up at the time-share desk, and lost five hours of our lives that we will never get back, but did end up with show tickets to V and $100 gambling credit (and no time-share). Be careful with that! If you come in to the South Tower, pass the Starbucks, turn left immediately and walk by the cafe, follow the pool around and the check-in desk is on the right-hand side.

We love staying at the Golden Nugget. Considering that you rarely spend much time in your room, the most important thing is the cleanliness of the room and linens. The Nugget is a very clean hotel. Big flat screen TV's are new since our last trip...a big plus. Very nice pool...too bad it is always crowded. Good, inexpensive breakfasts at the Carson Street Cafe. And, you can't beat Vic and Anthony's for a yummy dinner.
The money you save on the hotel, you can spend at the casino, or going out to dinner or a show. Did I mention they have a first class spa in the hotel. It is absolutely beautiful.
Wouldn't stay anywhere else.
