Our corner room was on the second floor, but at the same level as the lobby and the main street of Pacific Coast Highway. Our window faced out on the dead end side street, but had a glimpse of the Pacific since our view was unobstructed, however the small bathroom window had a direct view of the crashing waves. The room was clean and the windows were open when we arrived, allowing the crisp ocean breezes to flow in. I enjoyed our pillow top bed, but the side street was busy and noisy and made for a restless sleep for my partner.
One thing we love about this hotel is the incredibly attentive and friendly staff of the hotel. It was small enough that walking by the lobby and being greeted by the front desk was like staying in a European pension. They were incredibly awesome in setting up champagne flutes and a bucket of ice for us to use for a split of champagne while soaking up the stars and ocean breezes on the rooftop deck in the late evening.
The deck is a nice place to have a night cap, however there are speakers surrounding it blaring unfortunately bad modern jazz, not that it’s bad. But the crushing waves make for wonderful soundtrack. One tip about that, turn the speakers sideways, access the back and unscrew the screws of the speaker cord and voila, bye bye Dave Koz. The hotel also provides plush beach towels and beach chairs that you could use. The beach is in walking distance and you’re essentially sharing the stretch of beach that the more obscenely expensive "Surf and Sand Hotel" uses.
