Best Things Nearby:
Downtown Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Point Betsie lighthouse, The Vineyards

Best Things About the Resort:
Access to the beach and sunsets

Resort Experience:
The traffic noise was annoying at first, as it is right on the main road along the bay. But we didn't spend our time in the unit enough to be bothered by this. The smell of campfires from across the road at the campground permeated the brisk spring air.

Pinestead Reef is in a location that allowed us to visit all around the area. No more than an hour's drive in any direction had plenty for us to do. Wine country vineyards were a great place to visit on a rainy day. We went to Leelanau Vineards as well as a few others. And there are plenty of local restaurants for a different experience every night.

I would definitely visit this timeshare again and I loved the area.

Resort Experience:
Spacious unit, but they are older and in dire need of remodeling. Carpet worn and dirty, mattresses old and worn. Sheets and towels are old and worn - you have to call to trade in linens. No housekeeping service and you have to remove all trash and all dishes need to be clean and PUT IN CUPBOARDS or $50 charge. Housekeeping needs to do a much better job also. We used the Jacuzzi/pool area once - Jacuzzi was not bad, but very old. Pool needs cleaned (maybe replaced!).

Spacious unit with beautiful view of the bay. Rooms are old and need to be remodeled. Closets are musty - we didn't dare put clothes in them. No housekeeping unless you pay extra. You have to call for extra linens and towels. There is a $50 charge if trash is not all removed or dishes not all put away. (Can't even leave them in the dishwasher). Would not return. Recommended only for location and view.

Best Things Nearby:
Lake MI, ski areas and golf courses, wineries, tourist stuff, great shopping!

Best Things About the Resort:
Every room has a spectacular view of the East Bay (Lake MI). The huge private sandy beach is a few steps from your room.

Resort Experience:
This is not your fanciest resort, but it is very nice and provides everything needed for a great time. Its location is fantastic, which is part of why it will soon (hopefully) be considered a resort of International Distinction. The size of the units very greatly (we've stayed in many). Don't be afraid to get a studio unit -- they're very spacious. The folding door divides the bedroom/livingroom areas. When open, it's like a huge room with a full balcony overlooking a great view!

Torrent Falls Bed & Breakfast

The price above was for a single room, although cabins and efficiencies are also available.

If you are going to Red River Gorge at a time when camping out holds no appeal, I recommend looking into a stay at Torrent Falls. The rooms aren't anything exciting, but they are well maintained and pretty enough in their own way.

The establishment is nestled in a gorgeous setting, with plenty of outdoor activities in the local area to keep you busy and entertained.
