Great location in town. Good value. Located right next to a more famous hotel. We had a huge room that looked over the central courtyard. But the exterior is more interesting than the rooms.

We booked a 2-week jaunt through the South West and this was one of our 2-night stays. Upon arrival which was very difficult because of traffic both pedestrian and auto topped off with 1-way streets, we decided this wasn't the location for us. We were informed even if we canceled at such short notice (checking in) that they'd charge us for one-night's stay. Obviously we checked in only to find we had a 2nd floor room that didn't have access to an elevator. We had heavy luggage and no one offered to assist. Staff also informed us there is a $ charge for early check-out. 72-hour notice cancellation policy - so be warned. Apparently I missed that upon booking but I know that other hotel chains - and yes, this is a chain if you consider the fact it's part of the Sterling family, are more accommodating in regard to cancellations. This location is good if you desire the crowded pedestrian traffic of a Gattlinburg. In fact, if you are a shopper who likes to spend endless time going in one door and out another, this may be a great location for you but I suspect the prices will throw you for a loop. One piece of art was $. I'll take two please! It's a shame that Santa Fe has become like most of the South West areas (Taos, Sedona) that have over commercialized the tourist industry.
Excellent location, overall very good facility, would stay again

We stayed here for just one night after several days at a B&B south of Cerrillos. The location couldn't be better -- hardly a five-minute walk to everything downtown.
The room was huge, having both a small sitting room and a bedroom. TV in each, of course, although we never used one. Our room was in the north wing, so the front windows next to the door looked down on the courtyard. The bedroom in back had a door onto a very nice deck, with small table and chairs. It only overlooked the street, but definitely a great place to sit outside with coffee, afternoon drink. Maybe 3 other rooms also open onto the deck, but it would not be crowded at all.
The overall facility was clean, staff very nice and helpful. At $13 per day, parking seemed high, but the on-street parking was only good for two hours, so . . .
This hotel seemed pricey, but is competitive for the location and what you get.

I was a little concerned when I read the review regarding small nasty rooms with dirty carpet, but that was not our experience at all. Good housekeeping staff. The rooms are compact, even the Jr. Suite, but quite comfortable. I found the staff quite pleasant, and the bar tender is excellent! Wonderful location, walking distance from most of my favorite restaurants. I'd definitely recommend it.

We had some airline travel problems, and the Hotel Plaza Real night manager was extremely helpful about adjusting our hotel reservations. When we did finally arrive (late) he made us feel very welcome; we were pleasantly surprised to find a basket of snacks waiting in our room suite. Our suite was attractively decorated and comfortable for our family of four. The hotel's location near the historic plaza and across the street from the Palace of the Governors is just great! We felt fully ensconced in the atmosphere of Santa Fe's history and its art scene.
