Very Impressed

I was very surprised how nice the hotel was after reading the reviews. It is in a good location, only 4 blocks to Union Square. At night there was security to check if you were a guest in the hotel before letting you to the elevators. I dined in the restaurant one night and the food was very good. I also enjoyed having a Starbucks attached to the hotel. Yes, the rooms are small & no place to put your toiletries in the bathroom, but they do have a small walk-in closet to put your things. I enjoyed my stay here & would definitely stay here again if I am ever in San Francisco.

Built after the 1906 earthquake, lots of marble and hardwood in the check-in/lobby/restaurant-bar area and was one of the better hotels at the time. A good location near the Civic Center, UN building, museums, and across the street from the Lyceum Theater.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, but check-in on Sunday afternoon was slow. Hotel is on the same corner as the Civic Center BART and Muni Bus station on Market, transportation was easy to use, especially to the Piers and Wharf and Cable car. Room service was good and not a long wait.
The only real drawbacks were the room was older and not large, although clean and well-maintained, and Market St between 8th and Powell is shaky. We avoided walking there and used BART between the hotel and Powell.
We liked it and would go there again

Great Location to all the public transportation. I love having the Bart out the front door. Had some really good food too in the Market St. Grill. Great place and the lobby is just Grand.

Wow, I used to live in SF! And this is the best Historic Hotel. I have to say this as I am a frequent visitor to many hotels in SF! Yes, SF has homeless; and if your an idiot you would assume it is the hotel's problem. It is the problem of society. Anyway. Do visit this hotel it is all class inside and out!

I am shocked and appalled at this hotel ). Rooms were tiny There were holes in my sheets. Asked for an extra blanket and they brought me one with cig burns and dirt on it. Cob webs and dirty shower. My daughter and I got bed bug bites from this fine establishment. The hotel manager Mr. Lee is a joke. Not to mention the homeless parked right outside that you have to step over. I have made a formal complaint to the Ramada Cust Serv., reported to the health dept and the BBB. Stay away from this rude, bug bearing no good excuse for a business.
