Hotel was "OK" but way overpriced. Our room, while technically ocean front, had horrible view of the ocean, more view of the other wing of the hotel. Room smelled musty. Staff was pleasant and Stewman's Restaurant was terrific. I wouldn't stay there again. Had vouchers for the breakfast buffet which was nice and good food.
Bad hotel

This hotel took our reservations and money and when we got to Bar Harbor we found out they were closed for the season. They didn't even call us to tell us. We are trying to get our money back.
DON'T STAY HERE!!!

This place was a nightmare! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Booked at Sunspree Resort but there is no such thing. Arrived at address and found Holiday Inn Regency. We were told we were at the correct hotel and were in the Frenchman's wing. It was horrible - appeared to be an old Fairfield Inn now part of Hol. Inn. We felt like second class guests! Lobby was desserted and entire facility filthy. Shortage of wash clothes, although we were a family of 4, we were only rationed 2 washclothes a day & could not get more even when requested. Told staff in main lobby not satisfied but they didn't care. The "wing" had no assigned staff and did not feel safe at night. Wouldn't stay her again even if free. Disappointed in Holiday Inn's false advertising of this facility.
There are better options

Spent three days here in August. First the good news, location is great - equally distant from downtown Bar Harbor and Arcadia National Park. Beds were very comfortable and the pool area is excellent, especially if you have children.
Now the bad news. We were assigned to a building not connected to the main facility which had no elevator, lobby, etc. So haul your luggage up the stairs without an elevator, and if you want to use a payphone, eat anything, check at the front desk, etc., you have to go outside and walk to the main building. When I explained at the desk that I had bad knees, the only compensation that they could provide was the same room with a $* discount.
Secondly, none of the buildings are secured. All of the locks have been disabled on the buildings (room locks are okay). So if security is your thing, this might not be the place to stay.
When I was checking out, another woman was checking in with small children. Her request for two adjoining rooms was on the reservation, but management could not honor it. So she was trying to figure out how to keep an eye on the kids down the hall.
Just little things, but this was my first stay at a Sunspree and I guess I just expected better for the price.
Good time at a nice hotel.

Nice, helpful, international staff. Excellent dinner in the smaller restaurant out near the dock. Our son enjoyed the pool - beautiful view of the harbor. Shuttle to and from town. We would stay there again.
