i've stayed here a few times a year for more than 25 years. and years ago, this hotel had no competition; now it does. to compete, it needs new beds, new carpeting, new wallpaper, major updating, ...it needs a lot. staff is nice enough. but sometimes there's almost nobody there to get you an extra blanket or pillow, because they run the place so lean. at night, it can be noisey, and sometimes there's only 1 person onsite. there's new owners since the last time i was there and they seem to have fired some of the better, more helpful people. they used to have a wonderful hot breakfast. they have something they call a hot breakfast now, but it's self serve, and sometimes there's not even any clean plates. my understanding is they're turning this into a superbudget type hotel, which attracts a lot of riff raff. i used to love this hotel, for the convenience, but the bottom line is more than price for me. it's safety and comfort, and a peaceful night's sleep. things in short supply here, i'm afraid.

Best We've Stayed At Near UAlbany

This was our 2nd visit to this motel as we have a child at UAlbany. Both times it was extraordinarily clean, pretty, and quiet with a very courteous staff. We had stayed somewhere else in Albany (won't name names) that was absolutely DISGUSTING. Not only did you walk into the lobby and find a foul smell--it was truly dirty complete with hair on the floor. That place was the reason we went back to BW. We realized then how spectacular it truly was!
