My Visit To The Chattanoogan

The Chattanoogan is a hotel that is located on Broad street in downtown Chattanooga . It is near the electric shuttle that takes you around the downtown area. We had a room unfortunately without much of a view. To be exact we were on the 2nd floor and had a view of the roof and in the distance we could see the mountains. There are rooms with better views so be aware. We stayed in a suite which was two rooms with a small hallway between them. It had two separate room numbers and the door to the bedroom could be closed and locked for privacy from the conference room. The bedroom had a king size bed a flat screen television, end tables and a round table. There was a full bath and a large closet . The adjoining room had a large flat screen television, another closet a half bath, wet bar, coffee maker microwave, mini-fridge and lots of cabinets. It had a long conference or banquet table, another smaller rectangle table with outlets and various types of chairs. In some of the rooms the sofa pulls out to become a bed.
A group of us ate at the on site restaurant called the Broad Street Grille and most said they enjoyed their meal. I had the swordfish which I liked and some others said the trout cake appetizers were also good. The wait staff was very attentive during our meal. The regular staff was also very helpful and patient when they were asked to bring extra sheets and pillows or help with luggage to the car. They also helped load supplies in the cars and supplied us with a wheelchair to be used by one of us.
So disappointed this trip

We visit family in Chattanooga every so often and stay at the Chattanoogan EVERY time -- until this trip. On our second night, we came back from being out late to find our beds unmade, the new towels thrown on the bathroom counter and new soap tossed on the counter. At breakfast on Sunday morning, the kitchen/restaurant were ill-equipped to handle the amount of patrons eating there. They ran out of food several times -- I never got to have Mother's Day brunch (I am the mom). People stood in line for 10 minutes waiting on the chef and his staff to "fix" breakfast for the buffet. The supervisors and managers on duty did not seem to think there was any issue. Instead of correcting the problems, they simply gave excuses.
We have always loved staying here until this weekend and will make a switch to a new hotel on our next trip.
My advice -- go to the Sheraton or Marriott.
nice and almost quiet

The hotel was architecturally quite striking, the wood paneling reminiscent of Perry Mason's office. This is a great place to stay if you wish to avoid the children packed hotels down by the aquarium. It is located near a great restaurant (St. John's) and within walking distance to the Read Hotel which has another good restaurant/bar. A couple of disappointments: A 20 minute wait at the front desk while the attempted to locate our reservation which had been made that morning, and an annoying ticking sound that commenced at 6:30 a.m. At first it seemed to be the picture next to the bed rattling from the fan, but it turned out to be the plumbing. So much for sleeping in after a rather vigorous evening.
Great Hotel

The staff are very helpful and the room, as well as all amenties are far above average. A visit to the spa is well work the trip (as long as you ask for x, and have a massage). She is fabulous - the best massage I've ever had, and I've had MANY!
Thanks to everyone at the Chattanoogan!
