Our hotel accommodations were part of a timeshare package with a well known developer of resorts throughout the United States. For $49 we received a basic room for two nights at the Radisson Hotel – Branson. Of course the catch is, you have to take the 90 minute timeshare sales presentation on your first morning in town. For us, that is a small inconvenience to receive the benefit of inexpensive hotel lodging...especially since I’ve always wanted to visit Branson to see what all the hoopla is about.
We were treated to a sleep number king size bed which didn’t impress us. While it is possible to change the firmness of the mattress on each side to meet the individual needs of those sleeping, the bed wasn’t really that comfortable. Additionally, I found that the top of the mattress created a bit of a ledge, making it feel as though I might roll of the top and out of the bed.
The room was actually pretty spacious, with plenty of room. The furnishings included a nice sitting chair with ottoman, as well as a nice desk and professional type chair. The lightening was adequate...and the air-conditioning superb!
The bathroom was the standard hotel type with a single sink and shower over tub. We didn't have any issues with hot water or water pressure, so all was good! Like most hotels today, the bathroom was supplied with a blow dryer and adequate toiletries.
The Radisson has a restaurant and lounge on site, as well as an indoor/outdoor swimming pool. With its location right off Rt. 76, it is convenient to many of the local theaters and show spots. In addition to a very good selection of cable TV channels, all guests have access to complimentary WI-FI Internet access.
Given that the advertised base rate for rooms is $99/night on the Radisson website, this hotel provides decent value at the base rate. I don’t know that the add-on options are worthwhile, however. The room with the optional "breakfast package for two" was an additional $27/night. Perhaps more surprising was the $42/night additional charge for a renovated room with the new Radisson sleep number bed. There is no way I would have paid for that privilege!
Pay particular attention to your hotel keys, as they advertise local attractions and offer discounts. One key had a $3 off discount on the Branson Ducks tour and the other was for 10% off dining at a local restaurant.
