Bad Policies and Bad Attitude!

After receiving a confirmed rate for my desired room for the night, I was informed (upon presenting my driver's license at check-in) that there was no way a room would be rented to me because I happen to live in a neighboring county. It appears there is an unpublished "no locals" policy. So a room which I was willing to pay book rate for was denied to to me based solely on my zip code?! I am by no means a trouble-maker, late thirties and "bookish". I received the rudest possible treatment by the desk clerk that you can imagine. My husband and I were actually told to leave immediately or be charged with trespassing.! Sorry, Asheville NC! The local economy could have profited by our night out... wining, dining and shopping. But alas, no money was spent by us in your town. This policy is ridiculous (probably illegal) and this hotel deserves to fail miserably. Hopefully a nice locals-friendly establishment can be created in it's place. Don't Stay Here!

Our stay at the Downtown Inn & Suites.

We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel. It was in a very good location (downtown)so we didn't have to move our car the whole time we were there - we could walk to all of the shops and restaurants. The staff was friendly and the rooms clean. So for the price and the location I would definitely stay here again. Michael T. (SC)

Incredibly rude and incompetent staff, smelled horrible, disgusting rooms, bars around the hotel, etc. This was more like a prison than a motel. Not sure how they continue to get business. Laughable.

do not be fooled with the good location.... worst hotel experience ever. The lobby reeks of body odor... the pool is.... just hilarious... and the only security you have are the bars on the windows. HA The staff is also horrible. They forget to inform you at check in that locals are not allowed to stay in rooms and then kick you out at 2AM when you are 6 hours from home. It was the most ridiculous situation and hotel experience we have ever had to deal with. do not reccommend this HOLE to anyone. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE.

Horrible hotel

Rooms were fithy, hotel run down, worried about safety of car, door didn't shut properly, light fixture hanging off wall, weird staff, don't rent rooms to anyone living in western NC. Would NEVER think about staying here again.
