Excellent hotel

We went for a long ski weekend. With only one exception, I would have to say that this hotel is absolutely wonderful. Not to mention the free bottle of complementary wine in your room...this is unheard of! The rooms are quaint and clean and the staff is among the friendliest that I have ever encountered. Along with the fact that the location is great, there are also shuttles that will take you to the lift within 5 mins and into Vail for a $5.00 charge. Another nice thing is that they give you free cookies and hot cocoa at the ski valet which is right next to where the shuttle drops you off. The regular rooms are a tad on the small side but they have condos which are a lot roomier. But for the smaller rooms, they get it right. There are no over-sized armoirs or dressers to take up space. The dresser and TV are built into the wall so that all of the space is utilized. The TV is not very big but you shouldn't be there to watch TV anyway. You also get to nice fluffy robes as well. The only downside would be the food. It's not that big of a deal since you are so close to the village. The main Italian restaurant has wonderful food and the atmosphere is beautiful. The breakfast restaurant is extremely pricy ($15 for hot buffet and $11 for cold buffet) for only OK food. No other breakfast options are offered. Everything is closed for lunch. We were a lilttle put off by this since there was no where to even get a cup of coffee but I wasn't that big of a deal. We had an absolute wonderful time at the Charter and would highly recommend it.
