Some would say the Basin is filled with history and rustic charm.
I would say the Basin's best days are history. There are other lodging options on Spring Street which truely do offer rustic charm.
Memorable, and Definitely a Do-Again

We got a large, well lit suite with two AC window units (hello, built in 1905. Can't expect totally modern amenities here.) The front desk and shuttle were helpful and friendly. The bed was very comfortable, triple sheeted with lots of down alternative pillows. The jacuzzi tub was a real treat after a long day of walking, and the food and drinks in the bar and restaurant were delicious and reasonably-priced. And the icing on the cake was a complementary massage in the day spa!

We were in Eureka Springs for a wedding Feb. 7, 2009, and spent two nights at the Basin Park Hotel. Our room was cold and drafty. We looked for a thermostat, but couldn't find one so apparently no heat. The lighting was poor with the best lights in the bathroom. But the sink and 9" x 12" mirror over it were in the other room! Imagine two adults trying to get ready for a wedding/reception! The alternative was a 3 ft. x 5 ft. mirror on another wall that would have taken a step ladder to use it.
The front desk staff was very prompt when called at 2 am to quiet a noisy party in our hallway. The bellhop was courteous when helping with our bags. He also manned the shuttle to bring patrons to the hotel from the parking lot several streets away because there's no parking at the hotel.
Overall we were very disappointed with our room and felt it wasn't worth the * per night charge.

I was fearful that the rooms would be very small, but they are really very nice. It is very convenient to shopping and restaurants. The spa in the hotel is also wonderful.
