Never Again

What a lousy hotel...and the staff is worse. Our first room was unlivable. The next room they showed us was a corner Garrett, and the thrid room was several steps down from the category that we had booked.

The room we finally got was what we had paid for, but getting it took us almost two hours of haggling. Not exactly what you want to be doing on a beautiful Sunday in London.

Not only that, but the hotel seems to be in a constant state of chaos....starting with the arrivals of the overnights from the US in the early hours of the morning.

FYI: There is a storage charge for your baggage on day of departure (storage on day of arrival is free). Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to retrieve your bags, since they are poorly organized

Great for location

I have stayed at this hotel numerous other times. I must say that the beds have improved by about 40% this visit - they used to be like concrete, now they're somewhat softer on my aging bones. The main appeal of this hotel is its close proximity to the tube station. There's a decent pub around the corner, a grocery and a drug store by the tube station, a nearby Americanized restaurant, and I have never felt unsafe walking alone in the neighborhood. Plus it's within easy walking distance of the V&A - a favorite of mine. I would discourage anyone from eating at any of the restaurants directly across Cromwell Road though. They leave a lot to be desired.

I have been staying here twice a year for several years. Very nice gym close by. Close to the tube system. Great friendly people.

Good Sized Room, but horrible bed, noisy toilet

The room was a decent size and was in a good location (2 blocks from the nearest tube station). Unfortunately, the bed was horrible - just about the most uncomfortable bed I've ever had at a hotel. Also, the toilet was noisy & keept 'squeaking' (trouble w/ the tank). The hotel staff were very nice & helpful, but I would not stay here again - primarily due to the bad bad quality & mediocre bathroom facilities. The last straw was no heat. This is London in October we're talking about. When we checked in, I informed the front desk that my heat (radiator) didn't seem to be working. They informed me that 'it hadn't been turned on yet' (the boiler for the building), becuase THEY didn't consider it cold enough yet. Sorry, but when I'm cold in my hotel room, I want heat. We had extra blankets for the bed, but until we were in bed we had to stay dressed warmly in the evening.
