went for getaway with boyfriend. beautiful hotel, very clean, courteous and professional staff. we paid extra to make sure we would get a room with a view and it was worth it. the pool was decent size but with all the kids around, there was NO room to get in. outdoor bar was fun and had great drinks. Lots of reviews about this hotel talk about how far the beach is from the hotel-look at a satelite view of the hotel on google and you'll see it's pretty close PLUS you're not seperated by a parking lot or ugly grassy area. the shore was a bit of a walk from the hotel, but it seemed longer since we brought our own umbrella, a cooler, plus beach stuff. (i highly suggest purchasing this stuff from a local souvenier shop. the umbrella was huge, cost $25 and we left it with another couple when we left to come back home. otherwise you'll pay $20 per day to rent) the beach itself was clean and there was lots of room-and we went in july! room service was excellent and the food was delicious. Bar in the lobby was great too.

Nice hotel. Rooms were small but clean and comfortable. Beds were comfortable as well. Pool area and outside bar were good. Could lower the prices for a drink though. Huge beach! We would stay here again. Rusty's was a great place to eat.
Great but pricey hotel

This hotel was very nice. Loved the beach access-- it made for an incredibly relaxing afternoon there. The price was awfully steep for the small room we got-- we paid $* for a small room that overlooked a roof and the dumpsters-- it was because it was some type of "spring break special." The public areas of the hotel were very nice-- and my husband said the breakfast was pretty good too. We absolutely loved the location-- the beach wasn't too crowded and Sand Key was a perfect spot. Walking distance to a few decent restaurants or you can take a trolley. A couple notes: Wi-fi in your room is not free, you'll have to pay or go down to the business center where you get 45 min. for free. Don't expect a terribly spacious room if you get one of the lower-priced ones.
Excellent hotel to stay at. Beautiful white sands.

The hotel stay was wonderful. We purchased a room without a view and that is what you get. We could see the harbor, and the roof of an attached building to the hotel. If you opened the balcony sliding glass door, the noise from the roof top units was quite loud. We didn't care, we spent most of our time by the beach, sight seeing or at dinner. We did have one problem, we went to dinner in the hotel one evening and the waitress brought us our menu and drinks. After 45 minutes, they still did not come back and take our order. Needless to say they retified the situation by paying for our meals, drinks & dessert. We didn't even complain, we were busy discussing the day. One of our keys (plastic card) type did not work three different times during our stay. We had to get the key fixed each time. The other one always worked. They sent a maintenance man up to fix it. They gave us breakfast buffet vouchers for our trouble. Yes the beach is 400 feet from the hotel on the gulf as someone else stated in their review. No big deal because most of the buildings on the coast are that distance away from the gulf. Room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly.
As for the value for your money, I think it is very expensive to stay near Clearwater no matter where you stay. You have to pay for everything.

Definitely an excellent experience. From the front desk at check in to the last contact w/staff, everyone was helpful and friendly. The room was immaculate, food great, beach fantastic! Would visit again! Only small issue is the charge for wireless - they should get on board!
