Perfection!

We spent 6/9 and 6/10/2009 and loved it. The River Street Inn provides you with everything you'd expect from a gracious southern inn. We stayed in a king, river view room, floor to ceiling windows that opened to a small wrought iron balcony overlooking the river, fireplace, and four poster bed. The room was very comfortable, had a large bathroom and was within easy walking distance to many shops, restaurants and attractions. We loved this destination and hotel and will return there again. Also, each evening there was a free wine and cheese reception that was lovely. Another nice feature, each evening they lay a card by your bed with the weather forcast for the next day, and provide you with a umbrella to use while you're there if it's needed. Every staff member was helpful, friendly and courteous.

River Street Inn - YES!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Another couple went with us and the front desk quickly and kindly arranged adjoining rooms. X, who took our bags to the room, was most helpful and courteous offering advice when we inquired. The best part was the weekday wine reception with hot and cold food to accompany it from 5-7 p.m. We ate, drank, played cards (provided) and shot pool (FUN!) The view of the river is beautiful with huge cargo ships coming and going. The beds were cozy, the rooms clean, loved the snuggly robes, topped off with turndown service & chocolates, and great flavored (and regular) coffee in the room...plus coffee to go in the lobby. The location is perfect...all the shops are downstairs...and great restaurants within a few doors. The hotel is charming...brick walls...nice decor. Just a few blocks to Market Street. We plan to visit this hotel again in warmer weather (it was 30 degrees one night we were there!) The folks in Savannah are sooo friendly! A great place! I highly recommend it!

Never stay here!

My experience at this hotel was one of the worst I've ever had. While my boyfriend and I were out sight seeing, the hotel maid service came to our room to tidy up. Upon our return my boyfriend noticed his suitcase has been gone through and his money was missing which was in an envelope placed in a book that was inside a closed bag. We talked to the manager on duty, X, who was very helpful and apologetic and we filed a police report. We were then directed to the gm who was completely rude and very uncaring. He told my boyfriend it was HIS fault the money had been stolen and that he was not going to refund a single cent of his money. On top of this, the power had gone out in the entire city and we were without power in our room for 24 hours! While I understand this was not the hotel's fault, they did nothing to accommodate their guests during this unfortunate episode. Nothing was explained to us about the power outage or when the power would be back. We had to sleep in a room with no air conditioning in the middle of August and the next morning we took ice cold showers. I felt like I was camping! Also, the website expressed there was a free continental breakfast and turn down service which we never received. This was not a relaxing vacation and only caused more hassle for us upon our return home. Do not stay here unless you don't mind the staff violating your personal space and belongs and then blaming you when they steal your personal items.

Romantic stay on the Savannah River

This hotel is very convenient to all the activities in and around River Street. The river view rooms with a balcony are preferred. The balcony will barely fit two people. Be aware that River street is very active with performers, bands, etc. plus huge crowds on the weekend so noise from the street is prevalent way into the morning. Our room was OK, thermostat cover kept falling off the wall and the basics we expected and were promised in the advertisments, like robes, etc. were missing. Staff response to requests was slow. Also note that there is no room service provided, so breakfast in bed is out.

Great Hotel, Location & Service

The location of the hotel was excellent. We got there early in the day before our room was ready, but the staff went ahead gave us our parking garage pass and tour package contents so we could do one of our tours that morning. Our room was clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. Breakfast downstairs at Huey's each day was wonderful. I would definitely recommend the River Street Inn.
