Grand Suites was absolutely GRAND!

Third time staying here. A nice oasis in the middle of a terrible cancer ordeal. While the hotel doesn't offer a medical discount, their price beats the ones that do and is much nicer! We live out of town and when we have early appointments or surgery scheduled for my father we stay over the night before. Even though they are in the middle of renovating the hotel, the rooms are a very good value for the dollar. Separate sleeping area, Sink, MW & Mini Fridge even an additional TV in the sleeping area. Room was very clean with plenty of towels, extra pillow and blanket in the bottom drawer for the sleeper sofa which was also comfortable. Pool and Hot Tub were sparking clean. Will be making this our home away from home on all future Mofitt CC visits!!

Security and Business Nightmare!

This is an incredibly bad hotel. As an experienced business traveler I have a pretty good base of comparison. My only motivation for picking this one was that it was close to my client, and had a decent run of reviews. But.... Hotel staff, specially the managers, are not customer focused and barely capable. Complaints are met with 'not my yob' syndrome. My hotel room was left open by cleaning crew, and bags were ransacked. Nothing taken (my experience is to keep everything of value with me), but it could have been a disaster. Overheard a family complain that when they checked in late at night they were given a key to a room that was already occupied. They woke the family with kids in the room in the middle of the night. Can you imagine? Wireless connection was not available in my room, and I had to park myself out in the patio to get even a spec of signal. Not conducive to business travel in any way, and the staff just shrugged. My request for another room with wireless was met with blank stares and 'don't guarantee connection' type excuses. Hot tub was broken and the pool cloudy with no towels. There is no restaurant or room service, although they say there is a C-Breakfast in a central building. Pre-packaged muffins, and a small auto coffee maker spouting out weak tea strength coffee like substance does not a breakfast make. Most of the area restaurants are fast food chains or 'nothing special' and the culinary highlight is Chilies. The horror for me was having to drive by a starbucks and embassy suites every morning on the way to my meetings, then back by them on the way back to this hopeless imitation of a hotel.

Too much money for a poor room

I was the worst 4 stars hotel that I stayed ever. Awful beds. You feel like you are sleeping in a canoe. The bathroom is really small and old. You see cracks all over the place. The kitchen's refrigerator must be the first thing bought by the hotel when it was built. Ridiculous. You can barely place a water bottle. The A/C unit is noisy. It bothers you every time that the thermostat turn it on. It is like a railroad on the ceiling. They should offer much more for their current rates. BAD. BAD. BAD.

We were very pleased with the room size, cleanliness and comfort. We especially liked the hassle-free, complimentary shuttle to Busch Gardens. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Not what we expected

We left Busch Gardens hot and tired to find that the hotel could not find our reservations that I made through the online website. The clerk was very nice and gave us a room. The lobby, pool, and courtyard areas are pretty. The room, however, was very dark and poorly lit. The light in the bathroom flickered and was very dim. The beds were hard and barely fit in the room. The breakfast food was very good and the cook/host/table buser could not have been more nice and accommodating. Overall, I understand this hotel has been recently purchased from Doubletree. I think the good things about the hotel will diminish as time goes on. Two gentlemen that were new management/owners were walking around, standing behind staff members while they were assisting us. The gentlemen frowned and were obviously intimidating to the staff. I felt like we were being helped by prisoners that would be chastised as soon as we walked away. It was really weird. Stay somewhere else. There are too many choices around there to chose this one.
