Awesome Stay on a historic piece of history

We arrived early and were greeted by a very friendly front desk clerk. Room was available and we were given a King Deluxe Suite on the water side. Our room was as I expected; period but clean and remodeled. The bath tub was a treat; very deep and filled quickly with water. I loved the decor being period; however modern ammenities were present. Modern ammenities were flat screen tv and ipod docking station. We enjoyed exploring the ship and took advantage of discounts on the Ghosts and Legends Tour (which was filled with special effects) which made it mediocre. We did take a Midnight Ghost Hunt which was facinating; we were led around to many places not available for exploring for 2 full hours. The tour guides knew a lot about the ship. My husband's only complaint was the lack of modern air conditioning which we are used to living in Texas. I felt it was comfortable with the port holes open but he prefers A/C. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed ourselves. The only down side was parking at $15 per night; but someone got lucky and only got charged for one night.

A hotel, ship, & museum all in one!

My partner and I stayed here for a week while visiting my son in Long Beach. We had been on the Queen before and enjoy it's "old-timey" flavor. The history of the boat is fascinating and most of it is still in the same decor as it was decades ago. It is beautiful to walk out on the deck in the mornings and evenings and see the city of Long Beach to the east and Catalina Island to the west. We had a deluxe stateroom with two porthole windows, which is well worth the extra expense instead of an interior room. The bathroom has the old fixtures with updated features but don't expect all your modern conveniences like a vanity counter and large tub. There was a nice large flat-screen t.v. in our room. The staff was always very pleasant. We especially enjoyed the Promenade and the bar.

Absolutely Purrrfect!

When I found the Queen Mary listing at an online travel website, I booked immediately and prayed for the best. I wanted to surprise my husband for his 55th birthday. From the moment we arrived, everyone was friendly, helpful, and absolutely offered first class service with a smile. Our deluxe stateroom was so unexpectedly spacious that it took our breath away. The "thirties" feel to our room was charming, its living space well designed and the theme executed well in both decor and furnishings. It was a delight and a comfortable sanctuary for our three day stay. The salt air and sunshine streaming through the portholes was a wonderful way to awaken each morning . The Grand 'ol Gal has still got it...and for a romantic stay she can't be topped. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and as we walked the Promenade Deck each day it was easy to forget that she was just in Long Beach. It was memorable and nostalgic. Purrfect! Thank you, online travel website!

We stayed here for the convience... right next to the carnival cruise line terminal! You walk right up to the ship and get on also we styed for the historic adventure and it was really interesting.. The rooms are very small as expected, its an old ship!... The bathrooms are even smaller and old, the beds are not very comfortable but not that bad and it is haunted. We defintly had some strange experience while we stayed, doornobs turned in the middle of the night to a door that lead nowhere in our room. Didnt have time for the restraunts but looked great.... It was a very neat experience but its not a 5 star hotel by any means but somthing that you will remember. I would recommend it.

BUSINESS TRIP

Queen mary hotel, formerly the luxury liner rms queen mary is a remarkable piece of history. this is both a blessing and a curse at the same time. while the facility oozes with the afterglow of what it means to be on a real first class liner, when you check in to your 'stseroom" you are immedeately reminded that this is a 70+ year old ship. Yes, there is beautiful wood paneling and details that are too numerous to recount here, but the rooms are small, the bathrooms old fashoned (watch out for the tub when you shower - the bottoms are not flat and pose a very large risk for falling) and all-in-all the rooms do not make for a business friendly enviornment. The rooms at a local "hampton inn" are much more business friendly than what you can find here (desks, wi-fi- extra chairs, etc). Also, the resturants, while okay are not what you'd expect in/on a hotel/ship of this class. don't get me wrong, the next time I go to the long beach area on a vacation i'll make sure I "book passage" on the queen. For business though, i'll pass.
