Serviceable, But Not Much Service
I reserved a room on hotels.com a month in advance of my 7-day trip (therefore completely pre-paid). When I arrived at the hotel at 1:00 in the morning, I was informed that they had overbooked and I had been moved to another hotel. The front desk was not able to provide me with a map to the other hotel or even an address (or phone number interestingly enough). Finally, the bellman drew me a map and pointed me in the right general direction. An hour later, I was able to get the front desk of the other hotel to navigate me to the facility since I had gotten lost and was now several miles from where I needed to be.
Upon check-in, I was informed that I would only be staying at this hotel for the two days that the Tapatio Cliffs Hilton had overbooked. Besides not being what I wanted to hear at 2 AM, it turns out that I was given a room in a wing of the hotel that was furthest from the parking lot (10 minute walk from the room to the car) and had areas under construction.
When I made my way back over to the Tapatio Cliffs, the staff was very nice. I was told that I would get a refund for the two nights that I had been displaced. However, it took *seven* phone calls after my trip (I have them recorded in my calendar) and nearly two months to finally receive the refund check.
As for the rooms, they were nothing to write home about. Each room's balcony overlooks the individual air conditioning units of the rooms below, making for a noisy evening if you want to keep the patio door open. There was a larger hotel pool geared for kids that I did not take advantage of. I was in a room in a unit clustered around a small pool the size of a large hot tub.
Even taking into consideration that Phoenix is expensive in the high season, I think that for $220 a night, one could do a whole lot better.
Great family stay for Spring break.

Loved the pools and outside courtyards. Great hiking too. I read some so so reviews before I booked, but I was glad I didn't listen.
Tapatio Stay

This was our second stay at the Tapatio Cliffs Resort. We liked it so much the first time, we came back with our 12 yr. old son. Once again, we had an excellent time. We knew he would love the pool with the waterslide and the vollyball net. We were right, he didn't want to leave. The hotel was bustling with families and the big pool with the vollyball net was perfect for bringing people together, adults as well as children. The Point in Tyme restaurant was wonderful. The setting is comfortable and inviting, the wait staff are the nicest people and the food is amazing. The suites are well set up to manage a couple with children. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Phoenix, AZ.
Solid 4 Star Property

Renovation is apparently complete, so the property is in very good condition. Rooms are suites with a comfortable bedroom and reasonably sized sitting/TV room, though the furniture in sitting room was below average in comfort. Bed was very comfortable. Lots of activities: golf (a nice course and practice facility), tennis, kids activity area w/water park (well located on one end of the property, so the noise doesn't impact rest of the property), spa (very small - adequate, but this isn't the place for a 'spa' trip). 3 smaller pools offered quiter surroundings for adults/older kids. Fitness room was adequate, though they certainly have the room to add more equipment. Pointe of View restaurant overlooks PHX/valley - great views, very good food. The other 'Pointe" restaurant was also very nice w/elegant feel to it. The Mexican restaurant was average. Staff was friendly and helpful. Property is in north Phoenix, so it takes about 30 minutes to get to some of the baseball fields and shopping areas in the north and west parts of the metro area. This is an excellent property for families, and would be OK for a couples getaway or business meetings. The other Pointe Hilton is about 10 minutes away - a very similar property, though with a larger spa and better equiped fitness room (inc locker room w/steamroom; for us they waived the nominal fee to use the fitness room).

Our family vacation was great. The resort had a great pool area for our family to relax and enjoy
the great weather. The resturants on the resort property were excellent. The rooms were clean
and comfortable. The beds and pillows were comfortable and it was also quite, this was
important to me as I am a very light sleeper. There were many activities at the resort for all ages.
The staff was excellent and respectful to all of our needs. I will certainly stay at this resort again.
