We loved the Sunset Inn

My wife and I had a wonderful four days at the Sunset Inn recently.

It's location is outstanding - a block away from restaurants and there's a nearby supermarket for your full -working kitchen. The staff will even wash your dishes for you.

We had a full one bedroom suite on an upper floor (both were worth the extra $).

Our room was large -- very comfortable. Quiet.

The neighborhood is very nice; an upscale residential area.

The nearby Cafe Luxy provides huge helpings of very good Italian food. You could bring half of it back to the hotel for dinner the next night.

There's also a great small restaurant called Hamburger Mary's, which has excellent salads, sandwiches and breakfasts all day.

For fine seafood dining, Joe Fortes is an outstanding choice.

We easily walked to Stanley Park (the aquarium is great!) and some wonderful shopping areas.

Regarding the staff, Michael, the manager, was wonderful as were all but one of the front desk people.

Be warned that Vancouver is a very expensive city. A downtown movie is $13.

Note - if you plan to take a tour to Victoria Island, it's a 14 to 15 hour ordeal. We were picked up at the hotel at 7:10, and didn't arrive at Borchart Garden until 11:15. We got to Victoria city about 2:45 and were given until 5:30 to tour the sites. We treated ourselves to a float plane return to Vancouver, which got us back by 6 pm. Our tour mates didn't return until almost ten.
