W Atlanta

So what does the W stand for in the W Atlanta? Wow and woof. Wow is for the simply amazing rooms. They are just comfortable, very trendy looking, and oversized. My favorite thing, though, is the way they treat pets, a luxury hotel with luxury service for your pet. When you check in, they give you a pet toy, pet treats, clean-up bags, and W pet tags. In the room you will find a special pet bed, food and water bowls, in-room dog signs, and a dog treat at turndown. The front desk can arrange vet service, grooming, dog sitting, and dog walking. And in case you forgot some of the basics, the front desk also has leashes, toys, treats, and puppy pads for your special pet.

W Atlanta at Perimeter Center

The W in Atlanta is a cool hotel. Unlike so many other lodging options in the area, this place has personality. With 274 rooms, almost half of which are suites, the W caters to business travelers . . . but I don't think the stodgy kind who wear three piece suits. This hotel is for the young executives who threw out their ties and made business casual part of daily style.

From my first step into the front lobby I could see the decor is all clean lines with a hint of Asian influence. I could smell incense near the front desk where tall sticks of green bamboo were in tall vases. Short candles flickered on black tables in a comfortable sitting area to one side.

How are the rooms?
Fabulous! Even the standard rooms have balconies, but the atmosphere inside is also a breath of fresh air! A photo of clouds in a blue sky tied the blue fabric headboard of the bed together with other blue accents. The silver walled bathroom was small but similarly chic.

Want more room to stretch out?
Go for a suite. You're not at a budget hotel by any stretch of the imagination, but the bump up from a standard room ($170+) to a luxurious apartment can sometimes run as little as $30 depending on the specials the hotel may be offering! The suites have two beds in one room, a large living area, a kitchen fully stocked with dishes, microwave and fridge! True to the hotel's overall sense of contemporary style, a curtain that looks a little like it belongs on a shower rod, hangs in the kitchen's doorway. Green apples on the tables add splashes of life to the neutral color schemes. Wonderful!

Anything else worth mentioning?
Check for the "munchie box" that serves as your minibar. Your pets don't have to miss out on the luxury. The W welcomes them (with a deposit.) The rates are a little lower on the weekends if you're looking for an Atlanta escape. Of course there are modern features like highspeed Internet connections. The restaurant downstairs offers Asian Fusion cuisine, but you're near several other restaurants, some of which are in the nearby Perimeter Mall.
