The hotel was absolutely splendid with absolute flair. It was first rate from the second we drove up the road. You felt as if you were driving into your own world. All staff members were courteous and professional and just wonderful. I was totally won over by every aspect of my stay here.

My three kids and I spent one night at the Houstonian. We read a review that suggested the Concierge Floor, which was absolutely the one thing that made this hotel worth it. We arrived a bit early for check in, but were allowed to go to the Concierge Lounge where they had drinks and nuts available. On the Concierge floor you can get complentary drink, snacks, and after dinner sweets. The thing that shocked me (and pleased many) was that complimentary alcohols that were available for a while in the evening (beer, gin, Crown, you name it!) I wouldn't stay at this hotel again, but for the Concierge floor which made it a unique experience. The down side of the hotel is, that if you don't ask specifically for a good view, not of the trees and parking lot, that's what you'll get. The bathrooms are tiny--definately 1 person restrooms. There is some kind of game system available in the rooms, but I'm sure it costs extra. The worst part of the experience for me was all the walking and stairs required to get to the pools and around the hotel. My youngest went to the children's gym, but since check-in on Saturday is 4 p.m., she only got to stay until 6 p.m. (closing) and it didn't reopen by the time we had to check out. It opens at noon on Sunday. It costs $7/ hour. The children's gym is downstairs and takes some walking to get to. The kids are not very well supervised. So young children might have difficulties. The pools were crowded in the day time, but at night the blue lights were beautiful.

Will stay again.

The rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller, however, the maid service is fantastic...better than any other hotel I've stayed at and I've stayed at 100's! I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel if I couldn't get into the concierge level. the concierge level is outstanding with an open bar during Happy Hour with vegies and cheese. Morning have a good continental breakfast and in the evenings there is desserts and open after hour drinks as well! I have every intention of checking out the spa, but didn't have time. Next time for sure! The best part of the rooms are that there is an AC/heat vent in the bathroom! I have never seen this before. Usually I am sweltering in the bathroom and have to keep going into the main room area to cool off. Not here. That alone would make me come back!! Location is convenient to freeway and shopping.

Had a great time with the family. Lots of fun stuff for the kids to do in Houston during the Xmas break - also just hanging out at the pool or fitness club kept us all going and having fun.
