Such a cute little hotel!!

What a nice idea for a hotel! I love movies, so the movie-themed Hotel Bijou was perfect for me. The location is fantastic, close to the Cablecar Turnaround, subway station, and bus stops.Yes it's noisy, but my visit was in December, so I closed the windows at night. Since the rooms have no AC, it can be harder to get sleep in the summer.This is a great hotel, upbeat and nicely decorated (not EVERYTHING is white!) The movie shows in the evening were a great plus, and breakfast was enough to get me well fueled to roam SF.

"This is a great hotel in an expensive neighborhood. I stayed here while attending a conference at the S.F. Hilton, up the block, at less than half the rate. The Hotel Bijou is good, clean, with friendly staff. It's maybe a little noisy outside at night, especially Saturday, but that didn't bother me much. It might bother others. What did bother me was the number of vargrants hanging around outside. Never on the hotel property, but always within, say 100 ft. It just made me uncomfortable."

i liked staying here. the younger staff was fun and helpful. the older people were grumpy aor compative i could have done well without that

Ideally located. Two blocks from Powell BART station. One reader suggested to request higher up room which I did. No problems with street noise. Staff very friendly (say hello to Ed). Europeanlike small but comfortable rooms and bath. Clean. Movie themed rooms. Small movie theater in the lobby which shows movies at night. Get the 3day trolley car pass and BART ticket and you're ready to go anywhere.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff are really friendly and helpful with information on the area and using the public transport options. We had an early flight so they had breakfast ready earlier than normal for us. The location is great - handy to shops and transport and felt safe to be out at night. Very clean and tidy hotel - we enjoyed their bagels and muffins. Our two double bed room was quite small and faced the street so the nights were very noisy - try and get a room away from the street !
