Atlanta Super 8 World Congress Center

Close to the World Congress Center (12 blocks), this bargain hotel needs upgrading to compete with some of its high-tone neighbors. Bathroom was adequate but very small, with poor tile work. Toiletries were OK, Pantene shampoo, Super 8 brand soaps. Some of the electrical did not work making plugging in laptops a difficulty. The wireless was very poor making e-mail just about impossible, even when it worked well. TV was OK, bed was OK, AC was OK.
Lobby was spartan, and thankfully shared with small deli that sold beer (hooray). Did not try breakfast. Also the hotel might consider installing compact fluorescent bulbs to save money on electrical, as the bulbs in my room were all incandescent.
This is a bargain hotel, adequate for a couple of nights. The staff was helpful and courteous, but they are caring for an aging bargain hotel badly in need of renovation. That being said, I was trying to save money on my trip, so despite its weak points, the Super 8 was OK.
Not wonderful

The best thing about the hotel is that it's only a block away from Ted's Montana Grill. As for the rest...
The paint was peeling in my room, and the room felt dirty. There was something sticky on the rug, as well as flakes of paint.
I had a fine view of a concrete wall about 4 feet from my window. The English muffins at breakfast were stale. The people next door arrived noisily in their room at midnight and were partying at 2:30 in the morning, but the person at the reception desk didn't want to phone them to ask them to quiet down. (On my third call to the reception desk, about the noise, I counted 100 rings before he even picked up the phone. And then he argued with me.)
If that weren't enough, our rental car got a window smashed in when it was parked overnight on the street in front of the hotel.
The woman working the front desk in the evenings was polite and helpful, though.

Staff friendly, rook clean, decent size. Stayed 2 nights. free WiFi helped. Biggest complaint - bathroom extremely small and toilet placement bad - couldnt sit down straight - had to side saddle a little.
Would do again if by myself. If my wife was with me - probably not.
Do 8 Year Olds do Your COntracting Work

Staff was friendly, location and price decent. You absolutely would not believe the bathroom in the room they gave me though! It had a drop ceiling with broken or turned up panels, peeling paint beneath. And the guys they contracted for the work must have been on crack. I mean, they couldn't even fit the marble top properly on the sink, but had to add cement over two inches of it so the water wouldn't spill over! The work was so bad (raw saw marks all over the place) that it looked to be intentionally so, or a rush job done by 8 year olds. (8 year olds on crack!)
The breakfast (supposedly complimentary) was miserable too. I wouldn't stay there again, even though it was the cheapest thing in the area. I ended up giving about another $10 away to the homeless people in the area, so that should be figured in too if you don't like turning them away.
They tried to fix it

My heater kept throwing the breaker in the middle of the night. I would play with the reset button for awhile and it would come back on for a few hours. The hotel would come up and fix it during the day while I was gone but it would happen again the following night. We finally figured out it was a short from the hair dryer in the bathroom causing the problem. They offered me a different room but by the time we figured it all out I only had one night left so I said not to bother, it would have been a bigger hassle for me to move all my stuff when I was leaving early in the morning anyways. They were very sweet people though.
