The Good, the Bad, the Ugly.

The Good: This place is a great deal compared to most of the competition. The staff & management are very decent. It's downtown for good walking and amazingly quiet. Our room was very clean, except for The Ugly.
The Bad: They did not honor our online purchase for a room for four, and charged us $10 extra for our two grown children, even though the reservation receipt stated four persons. They were courteous, but firm about the extra charge.
The Ugly: The carpet in our room was really worn and spotted, but not filthy. Everything thing else worked fine. Make sure that you ask to see your room before accepting it.

We stayed here for the first time and loved it. We were both skeptical at first, but that turned real fast. For the price, it did it's job well. We had planned to go out the first night we were in SC, but the room was so cozy we opted to stay in and chill. There's a liquor store, ice cream shop, and coffee shop right across the street. We had everything we needed. It was easier than expected to get to. Not even a mile from the freeway and RIGHT THERE! Everything is so easy to get to: Boardwalk and downtown aren't walkable but a short cab away. We already decided that we will stay here again and again! The beds aren't the best, but overall we were very happy. The people at the front desk exceded our expectations. Everyone was very helpful with anything we needed.

during the summer, my girlfriend and i vacation in santa cruz about twice a month. we have stayed at many hotels in the city and keep coming back to our old favorite - the quality inn. the staff are VERY friendly and respectful, the rooms are clean and smell fresh, and the location is excellent. a big reason this hotel stands out is that on the second floor, there is a tiled outdoor balcony with tables and chairs that you can relax at and have a drink under the stars. also, it is not just a barren cement landscape - there are flowers everywhere! some of our pictures look like hawaii in the background with all the greenery and colorful flowers. the location is also perfect as it is only 5 minutes from the boardwalk/beaches. there are food locations all around the hotel and also a pool, if the beach is not your thing. we keep coming back over and over again - it's just a good place to be.

We came to santa cruz to spend a day as a family. This hotel was affordable, comfortable, and in a great location. Seems like the hotel is under renovation but we were not disturbed. The rooms were clean, quiet, and we had a great time. We will definitely stay here again!

This is my second time staying here and once again it was exactly what I was looking for. I like coming to this hotel because the rooms are great and the staff is really caring. Though the pool is small that wasn't a problem because most people that come to Santa Cruz like myself go there for the beach. The hotel has recently gone through some renovation and looks in great shape. Next time I come down there I will definitely stay at the Quality Inn.
