Description: We have stayed twice at this hotel. Both times I won an online auction for a very low price, under $80 complete. Parking is at the convention garage next door and is $20 a day. You can pay for it at the hotel and they will validate your ticket.

Since we had Julia and Alex, I thought it might be nice if we had a suite. I called the hotel and asked if I could upgrade, and they said sure, so they upgraded us: cost--nothing. Yes, I was surprised too, but it had to do with the fact that we had prepaid and they had no idea how much we had paid. The staff was always cordial and helpful. If you are lucky enough to hit the right time in the afternoon, there will be free warm cookies, but it is a science to hit the right time.

The suite had a couch that turned into a bed and a second TV. It was a little larger than the standard room, which we had on our next visit, but not that much bigger. Having two TV’s so close ended up being pretty funny, because when one of us changed the channel it changed both TV’s.

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Housekeeping provided me with feather pillows when I requested and extra bedding for the kids.

There is a nice meeting area with a fireplace in the lobby, as well as a small store. There is also a business center, where Internet access is free. Soon that won’t be an issue in Philly, since the whole city will have Wifi. I can’t wait.

There is a restaurant and a bar on the 10th floor. The bar is well stocked and has good views of the city, but they close quite early even on summer weekends.

The only meal we ate at the hotel was Sunday breakfast buffet. It was typical, with nothing unusual offered except made-to-order omelets. Priced high, I only recommend it as a last resort.

Why stay here? It is next door to the Reading Terminal Market. You can get some of your meals there for very good prices, not to mention pick up snacks. After-hours, there is a WAWA across the street. You can walk almost anywhere in the city from here, except maybe the art museum.

There is a health center and an indoor pool. This is a good basic hotel. The convention center is across the street. They do a lot of convention business, so at times the lobby can get a little busy.Close

Central to all the places we wanted be in the downtown area. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy, very basic. Good value if you plan on being out more than in.

Hotels in Philadelphia tend to be pricey, and this one is no exception. Nice accommodations, good service, clean and comfy, just a little expensive- but as the saying goes- "you get what you pay for."

I stayed at the hotel with a small convention. We also used one of the meeting rooms for the two days we were there. The service was great and I have no complaints. I had a very fun time there.
