This was our second time staying at the Eola hotel, the last time was 4 years ago. It's amazing how much has changed in 4 years. The hotel needs a complete overhaul. It has the potential to be very nice but a lot of maintenance is needed. Our room had water damage, we had mildew in the closet..it smelled horrible, we couldn't hang or clothes in the closet or even open it without a horrible odor disseminating through the room. One of our bed linens was not clean and there was dust everywhere. Upon arrival, we had no soap to bathe with and it took the staff about 45 minutes to bring soap to the room. The next day, we realized we had no iron..once again, a long wait. I love the character and the history of this hotel but it really needs to be closed. In my opinion, it's not worth $25/night. The condition of our room was a health hazard.

The Eola turned out to be something of a local institution, and has been recently renovated. I stayed in a standard room on the City (non-River) side of the hotel.
The room and all the public facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the desk clerk and manager were helpful with everything from accessing the internet to directions. The hotel conveyed a positive impression of Southern hospitality and is within walking distance of almost all of Natchez' historical sights.
