This place is a pit!

This place is a pit for the cost. Rooms are vintage 1980's. Beds and furniture are uncomfortable. Location to Scottsdale Fashion Mall, ASU, Sky Harbor, etc is inconvenient. Pool is small, and amenities about average. Parking is terrible. 5 - 7 minute walk from parking to room. Unless yo get a nightly price arounf $* - $*, you are much better off at the Courtyard Hotels by Marriott. Even the Amerisuites in Scotssdale blows this place away!

Good Deal

Got a great deal for a suite for two days for a last minute business appointment with my husband. Great housekeeping, good pool, spacious room. The only complain I have is internet is not free (which is rare for today's market)

90's ROCK!

In the 1990's this room would have been TOP OF THE LINE!!!!!! however, we are in 2006. The room was clean and big, the bathrooms were great, but the 9" plasma TV in the bathroom was actually a 30 year old box w/ NO remote! So, the rooms are not as great as they say, but still nice, and everyone was super nice. Good trip but probably would not stay there again!

Best Things Nearby:
Golf, shopping, mountain views, old town Scottsdale, and Phoenix attractions.

Best Things About the Resort:
Beautiful outdoors, great desert climate, golf course.

Resort Experience:
Scottsdale’s Orange Tree Resort, managed by the Shell Vacation Club, is a luxurious resort. Its 160 units outline the PGA rated golf course. This one-time orange-tree orchard has been beautifully transformed into an outstanding champion 18-hole golf course. The one downside to this sprawling resort is the lack of convenient parking. Our unit was at least a five minute walk to our vehicle, although the resort did provide complimentary golf cart travel around the resort. On the flip side to the lack of nearby parking is the fact that your view from your unit was not obscured by an ugly parking lot, but well-manicured walking paths, a lush golf course, large swimming pool, and mountain vistas.

This is one of Scottsdale’s older resorts that has been totally renovated with a contemporary southwest flavor. Our unit was tastefully decorated in neutral colors with a splash of color in the southwestern print wallpaper.

We stayed in a one-bedroom suite. The living room area had two sofas, coffee and end tables, a small dinning table with chairs, desk, TV, a microwave, sink, and small refrigerator. This mini-kitchen was adequate for breakfast and sandwich meal preparation only. The master bedroom was stylishly divided by only a curtain to the living area, therefore not much privacy if your party consists of more than a couple. Our bedroom had a very comfortable king-sized bed (with a plush comforter I would love to have at my own home), TV, and plenty of storage. The bathroom was elegant and extremely large including a Jacuzzi bathtub, shower, vanity, and even a small TV. Each unit also has a private outdoor balcony with patio furniture.

Amenities at this classy resort include: swimming pool and outdoor whirlpool, exercise facility, PGA rated golf course and golf lessons, restaurant, lounge, conference facilities, and private party facilities. The concierge on duty gave us good directions and suggestions for dinner and activities. We had other plans but we spotted a spectacular Sunday morning brunch that was offered in the resort’s restaurant.

Shell Vacations works on a point system, members do not have to book an entire week. We were only there for a weekend in November. Scottsdale was once only thought to be a winter haven for "Snow Birds". With modern air-conditioning, travelers will enjoy this resort year-round but the fall, winter, and spring are nature’s desert paradise at its finest.

  • Unit Type: 1 Bedroom
  • Activities: Excellent
  • Amenities: Excellent
  • Unit Satisfaction: Excellent
  • Family Friendliness: Very Good
  • Service: Excellent
