We stayed in the New England Suite, which is on the second floor and has access to a shared kitchen. It is a two-room suite with a sitting room and a bedroom.
Let's start with the sitting room. There was a couch that could be sturdier, as it sagged a bit under the tush, but the room has a lovely gas fireplace, which we made good use of, as it's easy to operate with a simple push of a button. Although it was a little warm, we opened windows and made do because the fireplace was so enchanting. We stretched out on the rug to enjoy the fire and made use of the pillows on the couch.
The bathroom has an amazing tub. It is lighted and has whirlpool jets that are not to be missed. Be careful not to slosh water over the side, however, since that seems easy to do, and who wants to drip water down onto the first floor?
The bed is comfortable, well appointed, and a bit of a jump up, as it sits higher than most beds. This was not an issue for us, but if you have trouble climbing into bed, this is not for you.
The kitchen is adequate. We did take-out and kept our leftovers in the kitchen. We also stored our white wine there. What is most lacking is the breakfast part of bed and breakfast. Lame. That's all I can say about the breakfast. Lame. If you're going for a sumptuous repast of breakfast, don't go! If you're going for a reclusive getaway in a romantic setting, this is for you. It's also within walking distance of Sage Restaurant, so make reservations for a romantic dinner one night! Despite the lackluster breakfast fare, we'll go again. Not to be missed is the coffee, which was excellent. On our second morning we brought a carafe to the room and skipped the breakfast entirely. We'll go again!
