Really enjoyed New Orleans - first time there - fabulous city.
Hotel was very, very nice, decorated authentically, staff were helpful, pool and garden area were a great addition. Located a tfour minute walk from Bourbon Street and all the action. Highly recommend New Orleans and the Provincial Hotel.
Wonderful surprise!

This was my first trip to New Orleans. The Hotel Provencial was quaint, clean, quiet and comfortable, with a nice contental breakfast to get us started in the morning and newspaper delivered to our door. They even gave us a reminder to switch to daylight savings time. The room was furnished in beautiful antiques and our beds were exceptionally comfortable. The courtyard was beautiful and very clean as was the fountain. (We saw other courtyards that were not clean and fountains were not kept up) It exuded my idea of New Orleans charm and we were not disappointed. It is within walking distance to everything and we always felt safe. The staff was courteous and helpful. We will stay there again and would recommend it to our friends and other family members.
Very pleasant surprise

The purpose of the trip was to attend a jazz funeral in New Orleans, and we needed a safe place well situated in the French Quarter. We could not have been more pleased with this hotel. The staff was very gracious and helpful, answered any and all questions, assisted with luggage and check-in, and parked the car in a very safe place in the heart of the French Quarter. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet spot but is about 2 blocks from Jackson Square, very safe and secure feeling, perfectly located. Very positive experience! My son now recommends that we always use online travel website because of how much he liked staying at the Hotel Provincial.
Ok hotel, but I would stay in another hotel the next time I go.

The hotel was fine. It was quaint, clean, and had a good location. Parking was ridiculously priced at $18/night, when some other hotels had free parking or very cheap parking included. The next time that I go to New Orleans I will stay in a Marriott or other similar hotel. They were in the business district, but to be honest, it was only about a block further. The location of the Provincial was good though, close to Bourbon street and the river walk, although the Marriott, etc. were just as close. For a romantic vacation, the Provincial may be better if you are looking for something more secluded, but less in the way of amenties. The parking fee still sits a little poorly with me.
Good Value for the Money

I've stayed at the Hotel Provincial many times Pre-Katrina. Was concerned about a post Katrina visit to any Hotle in New Orleans and reviews are all over the map. Keeping an open mind and getting a good rate I booked two rooms ($* nt.) for a vacation road trip for a family member and friends from Ireland. I was not disappointed. Our rooms were in building 5 - 521 and 523. I'd never stayed in building 5 before as it is above the bar area - which is undergoing renovations. We heard not even hammering during our stay. The pool is not a huge one but it is nice for the courtyard and doing a few laps, (building 2) has a separate courtyard which a lot of other guests seemed to be enjoying. The smaller pool on the other side of the driveway tucked back in another courtyard (building 3/4) is much smaller in size. Our rooms opened up onto the gallery that overlooked Decatur. It was great to return to the hotel in the afternoon with Margaritas 'to go' and sit up on the gallery listening to the band playing at the restaurant across in the French Market. Compared to Pre-Katrina visits I found that the crowds are not there as they were before. Lots of shops have closed or cut hours. The residents are still coping. The staff at the Hotel were great at helping my international friends find what they were looking to see and do while in the Big Easy. If you want Mini-bars, room service and mints on the pillows this is not the hotel for you. If you want charm, a good location and a decent place to lay your head at night, well you could do worse.
