Holiday Inn Downtown Detroit

The first clue on the lack of service and attention to detail was when I checked in and the clerk finished a text message before waiting on me. The second was a big sign posted in the office behind the front desk which said in big bold letters "ANSWER THE PHONE". I should have turned around right then and there and walked out, but it was late, downtown Detroit, not in a very good looking neighborhood - so what choice did I have? Yes, NONE. My room had a wonderful view of a decayed building across the street, there was no water pressure and the hair dryer didn't work. When I called the front desk regarding the hair dryer, they first suggested that I did not have it plugged in - and then implied it was my fault! The housekeeping service that day consisted of someone throwing the bed spread back on the bed and turning on the air conditioner. Nothing was cleaned, no towels were moved. There were virtually no choices for an evening meal - as they do not have room service. Oh, and half of the place is being "remodeled" - I had to ask to what. So I decided to go to another hotel. I was told I would not be reimbursed for the days I did not stay there because it was bad for business - like a horrible hotel experience isn't.....I decided to leave anyway and pay for a clean, safe, service oriented hotel. The staff there needs to understand what it means to be in the hospitality business. I doubt I will return to Detroit any time soon, but if you are thinking about this place - think twice...

Tigers Opening Day

We booked this hotel for the sole purpose of going downtown for opening day and not having to drive home. The hotel was a great decision. During the day we walked to greektown and then to the game. After the game we walked back to greektown and then took the people mover back from greektown to the hotel later that night. The hotel rooms were very nice and clean. The full breakfast bar in the morning was a bonus as well. If only downtown could turn around, we would love to go downtown more often. The sad part was when we woke up in the morning, looked out the window, only to see all the streets vacant and no one around. Maybe one day in my lifetime we will have a downtown to be proud of. We got a glimmer of that this night.

Nice clean hotel in a good location. With in 15-20 minute walk to Joe Lewis Arena, Greektown and MGM casino. Clean rooms though smaller, nice breakfast buffet, and freindly staff. Only thing we did not like was it was hard to vallet park and the rooms were a little bit noisey. Would reccommend to others.

good for price

you need to incorporate into your website the $17/d parking fee, with note that it is for safety
