Baton Rouge Stay

Enjoyed the Hotel, it was everything it needed to be. We were there with an approaching Hurricane and the staff, especially the front desk and the Shuttle/Parking Attendents were excellent. Convenient to Downtown and Casino as well as short ride to LSU with a convenient shuttle service. The only negative would have been the outside manager (gentlemen over the bag and shuttle attendents), he DEFINITELY forgot who the paying customers were and treated his staff poorly. If I managed the Hotel, I think I would re-assign him to someplace less visible, like washing dishes.

Thank gooodness we all had a great sense of humor from the stains on the carpet ,walls, sheets and pillows. The slippery shower. The spiders. The staff's bad attitude. And the huge wet dirty spot in the hallway that kept re-appearing every morning. Will never stay there again. Neighborhood was not the greatest either. Hookers on the elevator. Thank goodness for great company to keep you laughing.

we checked in hoping to get a room with two queens; what we did not know was that there was a convention in town of what seemed like a million teenagers and the hotel was completely full; not the fault of the hotel but the staff was not sympathetic and seemed a bit surly; i think we should have been warned about this because the noise and running down the halls was not conducive to sleeping; had to get some earplugs and take advil pm; as for the hotel itself, the lobby is a huge atrium with very litter shade from the sun; as you can imagine, it is very hot most of the day in said atrium; our room was on the third floor; when we stepped off the elevator the smell was awful; like mothballs; the carpet and walls were saturated with it; when we entered our room the smell of cigarette smoke was overpowering, in spite of the non smoking status of the room and floor; another trip to the store for room freshener; when are hotels going to start fining people for smoking in non smoking rooms; yuk; unfortunaltely, there were no other rooms; in this hotel or any other hotel in town; believe me we tried; in fairness to the hotel, the night manager did give me a free breakfast buffet for the next morning, but overall the staff was unfriendly and unsympathetic; i would not stay here again; this is just not a very nice hotel and the staff at teh front desk did not make you feel welcome and were downright rude at some times, with the exception of the manager, whose name escapes me (the maids and other staff were very friendly) i would steer clear of this place

Horrible Hotel Staff

I wish I could review the room itself, but we never made it there because even though we had a confirmed reservation, that was paid in full in advance, and late checkin guaranteed, we arrived at 1 in the morning with our tired kids only to find out that they overbooked the hotel and did not have the type of room we FULLY PAID FOR. They said (with an attitude) that the best they could do was give us some blankets for our kids to sleep on the floor. Horrible horrible horrible customer service, would not recommend!

ok so its a 3 star. keep that in mind. even though it is downtown it is NOT a 4 star hotel. the parking sucks (once again doesnt it always downtown?) the food was nice, the hotel was nice. the atrium restaurant was quaint and quiet. the cleaning staff was a little slow. but the 99% of the rest of the staff was sooooo nice. you couldnt walk by anyone without getting a "hello" or "how are you?" if you go use the valet service. like i said the parking sucks. and the valets were wonderful, some of them were there from 6am till midnight and they smiled and said hello and gave us advice on restaurants. on checkout one shook my hand and told me to have a nice drive back and a merry christmas. i dunno to me the people seemed great and that is a nice change of pace. warning, once again on DOWNTOWN hotels, dont stay on the first floor , the trucks during rush hour will really wake you up if you are not used to it.
