Since our flight from the US was CANCELLED, we think that the folks at the Southampton were a little overbooked and they upgraded us to the "Gold" floor....it was wonderful! Lots of freebies....like a "continental" breakfast every morning...fresh fruit, pastries, breakfast sandwiches...that kind of thing...hardly "continental" at all....the 6th floor has its own dining area...nicely done.....tea and scones at 4 daily...happy hour with canapes every evening....soda, water...a huge cooler filled with complementary cold drinks...even the stamps on my postcards were taken care of for me....the views were fabulous....our room overlooked the front entrance and I did hear the backup beeping of the shuttle, but at night, with the door closed it wasn't an issue for us at all. The location is far from the airport...$40-$50 taxi ride...tourists arent allowed to rent cars...shuttle to the free ferry...takes you to the town of Hamilton...did the bus one day and highly recommend it...one night we were in town at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess waiting for the return ferry to our hotel....it never came, so the staff there put all 20 of us in taxis for the return trip to the Southampton....a $25 fare...and they picked up the tab....a class operation! I'm going back and I will definitely stay there again....It was very relaxing....my husband commented on how everyone we met was pleasant...no surly money-grabbing waiters or hotel staff...the staff there went beyond excellent.....I definitely recommend this. We did play golf at the par 3 facility...and it was beautiful and nicely done...and doesn't take up your whole day, either. The beach facility was beautiful, but the 70 degree water was a little cold to swim...altho some people were! Go!!!!!

We have stayed here on several occasions as well as their sister hotel The Hamilton Princess. We liked it so much our daughter was married there MAY'07. The Staff was surperb, the weding was wonderful. 100 family and friends, many who had not been there previously, loved it. Beautiful setting, golf is great and fun. Walk the old railroad trail for georgous views and great exercise. New restaurant in place of the Whaler, Ocean Club, is to die for. Will always stay at the Fairmont South Hampton.

We spent 5 days during the Christmas 2007 holiday at the Fairmont and were absolutely blown away. There were 7 family members staying there and 2 more in a nearby hotel. When our two family members who were not staying at the Fairmont came and saw our accomodations, they were sorry they hadn't spent the few extra dollars so they could enjoy the same surroundings the rest of us were. The staff were courteous, helpful and friendly. The rooms were immaculate and comfortable. The food in the several dining rooms that we visited was exceptional. The holiday decor was breathtaking. We all took hundreds of pictures. It was the first time to Bermuda for 7 out of 9 of us and we were thrilled with everything. We will be back to the Fairmont South Hampton when we visit Bermuda next time. No doubt about it.

two words - Fairmont Gold. You have to book the Concierge floor if possible. It was well worth it. Complimentary breakfast (great), afternoon tea, and hors'doervres every day. This will save you money as the food is expensive. Also water, sodas etc... all complimentary. It was all right there on our floor and the staff was wonderful. All the staff at this hotel are top notch and very accomodating. The Spa is amazing although very expensive. The water and views from either side of the hotel are beautiful. It is a little isloated, but great if you want a romantic getaway without a lot of kids and noise. The beach was very laid back and quiet with chairs, towels and a great grill all right there. Horseshoe beach is right next door and it is one of the best beaches on the island. It is a little far from the town of Hamilton, but you could easily skip Hamilton and not miss much. Several restaurants all on site of hotel, but bring a jacket (men) if you want to go to them. Casual restaurant, Bacci, was excellent and reasonalble. You cannot rent a car on the island so plan to pay for cabs or rent mopeds if you want to get around. The par 3 golf course at the hotel is rated one of the best. My husband played and loved it - also only took 3 hours since it is a par 3. We will definetly go back - I can't wait.
