The Hotel Donaldson is a chic boutique hotel of modern design, with artwork from regional artists featured throughout. The rooms are wonderfully spacious and the downstairs lounge and restaurant are the city's hot and trendy nightspots. Service is Nodak friendly with a touch of boutique attitude thrown in.
The problem? It's impossible to sleep there. The hotel is one block from the local train tracks, and the trains run throughout the night, nearly every hour, and they blow their horns at EVERY crossing. I counted. There are 6 crossings within horn distance of the Hotel Donaldson. If you're on the second floor of this hotel, you'll be right above the hot and trendy nightspots... so the good news is you'll be able to listen to the music and thump thump thump from below while you're waiting for the train whistles. The hotel provides earplugs. I'd have preferred a refund.
