Conference Travel

The hotel was very clean, rooms very comfortable. The Oakland downtown area should not be traveled alone. Lots of restaurants are closed on Sunday (as the conference attendees found out as we all tried to find lunch).

Good overall experience

Hotel location is as good as it gets in Oakland, room was clean and comfy and the breakfast (included in rate) made a good start for the day. Service was good and friendly - the only minus was that consierge made some unnecessary "show moves" to inrease his tip. Overall this was a good experience, so If you happen to be in Oakland, I would recommended this hotel.

We came for a church convention and left revitalized.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The staff were very accommodating and went out of their way to ensure our comfort. The hotel was very clean; our rooms immaculate; the furniture in good repair; the water pressure and the temperature in the tub/shower were both good; and the bedding/bed was just wonderful! (Between the room darkening curtains and the low level of noise, you could get some very good sleep.) The meals in the hotel restaurant, especially for 'a la carte' items are a little pricey and the garage parking is also, albeit more convenient. Never the less, overall it was very decent value for the money.

Oakland Mariott

The Oakland Marriott is an unusually shaped building in the middle of Oakland's revitalizing downtown area. The triangle offers views of the SF skyline and SF Bay from two sides, while the other side takes in the Oakland Hills.

The hotel is 4-star, modern, clean, and efficent. The rooms are average-sized with firm beds, new looking linens and furnishings, and large windows overlooking the bay or the hills. They include a coffee maker, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and mini-bar. The bathrooms are large and well appointed with a full range of toiletries. The hotel has a restaurant and offers room service.

The best thing about this hotel is its proximity to BART. You are step away for the 12th St BART station which can take to in 20 minutes to dowtown San Francisco, or in 10 minutes to Berkeley.
